I don't hate him, I just don't see the immense talent and skill in him that the media keeps referring too. He doesn't seem to be able to keep the focus on what he is doing that is needed to be a competitive. I have always felt that the main reason he is so popular is because of who his father was.

Well Dale Jr. did win Busch Series Championships before ever coming to the Cup Series. Then in his first few years Dale Jr. did win Cup races and did contend for at least one championship.

However all that is fading into the rearview mirror quite rapidly. Soon anyone with shorter than a 5-year memory won't remember Dale Jr. winning a darn thing.

It does seem like the majority of his fan base is old Dale Sr. fans still driving with a #3 on the rear window of their pickup truck. Unfortunately, I know all too well what it means to have a favored driver tragically lost. All you can really do is latch onto whatever's left and not let go. Now while Kevin Harvick drives Earnhardt Sr.'s old ride, the very vast majority of Sr.'s fans, including former NASCAR drivers/crew chiefs who're now media personel, chose the remaining driver named Earnhardt to latch onto. They'll watch him & watch him until his deal goes away too, then they'll find whatever comes out of that to latch onto. So on it will go because when a tragedy like that happens, there is no healing from it. There's only an open wound, covered over by an ugly scar that will never go away.

Personally I think it's quite funny that Brad Keselowski has 3 victories, 2 in Nationwide, 1 in Cup, while his mentor has exactly zero wins in that same timeframe.
