HAMPTON, Ga. -- Tony Stewart says he's convinced that Danica Patrick will eventually make the jump to NASCAR.

Stewart says Saturday that he knows Patrick has talked with "a lot" of NASCAR teams about moving to stock cars. The two have talked frequently about the IndyCar driver's future. He said there's little doubt she wants to race in NASCAR some day.

Stewart says he doesn't have a Sprint Cup job for Patrick, since he'll remain a two-car operation in 2010. But he doesn't think she'll jump to the top-level series right away, perhaps working a deal to spend a year or two driving a Nationwide car while still racing in the Indy series.

Wonder if Go Daddy will trade BK out because his boobs aren't big enough.

Oh dear. At least it looks like she might be willing to spend some good time in the Nationwide series first. At least then she won't end up like Franchitti. Hopefully anyway.

I wonder how much more it costs to sponsor a nascar vs. indycar

Lot more on NASCAR side than Indy - probably somewhere between 2 or 3 times more. Because NASCAR is the most popular car racing in North America right now that sponsors willing to invest their advertisement there.

she cant win in indy why is she going to waste time crashing in nascar trying to turn a heavy stock car around a track for 300 laps.. if you think a driver like stremme cant drive just wait till patrick is allowed to race

So does Tony Stewart. He never won at Indy 500 - not even finished as high as Danica Patrick did. Now look at him, he has won Cup championship twice and currently lead in point.

but his background was in oval racing....he only ran a few IRL seasons, not spent his entire career in openwheel cars....and he had experiance in latemodels and such

Late Models and dirt race vehicles are much different from second-tier NASCAR and Cup level vehicles. She should be okay as long as Tony's helping her going through what he had done in 1998.

It has nothing to do with oval experience - since IndyCar do run some oval races. ;)

The point i had is he knew how to drive a heavy car before he went to cup...she's only driven lightweight formula cars...look at Dario, he has a similar background, but a ton more experiance in said background....The jump is too big for someone who can't even win in what they're currently doing...

Dario might have a chance had he didn't suffer an injury back at Dega of 2008. Hornish is capable, even though he's mediocre at best.

Not too sure about Danica.

Glad to see Danica taking a shot at the Nationwide series. At least there she can dominate inferior talent and people will think she's got talent until she gets to cup and bombs.

Hay, at least she's not giving up on her day job in the IRL. I think it's not all that bad of a program. Dabbling in stock car racing in small steps. If she shows promise then think about moving her into something more permanent. But if she doesn't then she can just drop it and continue with indycars. Low risk, Lots of reward...

Should bring some much needed interest back to nascar.

Maybe people will start watching the Nationwide races again. Most people I know gave up on the NNS because of the constant cup domination. She might just re-instate some interest (even if only temporarily) in the NNS.

Danica Patrick to Make the Jump to Nascar in 2010

It's official. She's coming to Nascar in 2010. From Jayski.....

Jayski.com said:
Danica to NASCAR in 2010 but not leaving IRL: Danica Patrick will "all but certainly" be in NASCAR in 2010, but won't give up Indy car racing and will limit next year's activity to the Nationwide Series and Trucks, according to a source very close to the situation. Tony Stewart is the "star candidate" to be her partner and mentor in NASCAR, the source said, adding that Patrick's recent visits to Stewart-Haas Racing were much more than social -- that she and Stewart were discussing a deal, and are close to one. The plan is for Patrick to run a significant number of Nationwide races, with additional seat time in Trucks and ARCA cars. Stewart took a similar transitional path to NASCAR in 1998, running a full Indy car schedule and also 22 Nationwide (then Busch) races. Patrick's likeliest first stock car race would be the ARCA event at Daytona during SpeedWeeks next February. Because Stewart's team has neither Nationwide cars nor trucks in its stable, a third partner will be brought into the mix, the source said -- possibly Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s JR Motorsports, or, more likely, Kevin Harvick Inc., which fields both Trucks and Nationwide cars. Patrick is close to signing a contract renewal with Andretti Green Racing for Indy cars, the source said, but it's not a done deal yet. Sponsorship is not considered an issue for America's top female driver, and the first car manufacturer to sign Patrick to a NASCAR deal would get a big boost in brand exposure
