This move will bomb. Danica is doing well in the IRL IndyCar Series this season. I think AGR is trying their hardest to keep her. Any move to NASCAR will wind up as another Dario Franchitti or, dare I say, Paul Tracy.

Besides, the only reason why she would move is that NASCAR has a larger fanbase than IRL...you don't need to look at the attendance numbers for IndyCar races, just the TV ratings.

I say let her come over so she can fail and then we don't have to hear about her anymore.

Not really - NASCAR's payout is much larger than IndyCar. Meaning that if Danica driving in NASCAR, her sponsors will pay her much more than what she's earning in IndyCar.

I see where you are coming from (I said the same thing right at the start). But as I read on, I started to realise that it's all about the equipment that they get. Just remember that Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon are both opel-wheel transfers. And both started out with A-Grade materials in the form of Gibbs hardware and Hendrick hardware respectively. Just look at those 2.

Not to mention experience on the heavier cars. IndyCars and stock cars are very different. That's part of the reason why Franchitti and Tracy failed and Sam Hornish is doomed to fail (though improving little by little).

I think if danica went in to nascar it would be in the late 2010 season and she should go to the nationwide series and stay for about 2-3 seasons before going to sprint cup

I think she'd be in for a rude awakening, much like A.J. Allmendinger's rookie season. However, open-wheel drivers I personally think can be successsful if they have the patience to learn the cars and have a car owner who has the patience to deal with the learning curve.

Exactly... these owners are sharks and will fire a driver before they can get settled into the car.

It's nothing but a play for more money. If I don't get what I want I'll go play some where else. That's the way I see it. Last time it happened, she got a bigger contract, could be the same this time. BUT if she does come over to Nascar it will have to be a major player. Hendrick is full, Gibbs will keep what he has, look to Roush or RCR. If she moves to a smaller team, probably Earnhardt/Ganassi Racing or could go to Penske. She will bring in a sponser with her, who really knows could be a start up team, reason I say this is several Nationwide owners have said they were considering a move to Cup, Rusty and Dale Jr being 2. I will say this and I quote " She will be schooled on the track for sure, the drivers may have a little mercy on her, because she is a woman, But if she is holding one up when trying to pass look out wall.

If it happens, don't be suprised where she would go if she brings a sponsor with her.

Godaddy.com for one.

Junior Motorsports 2 car team, with Keselowski.

It would be the same deal Stewart Haas has with Hendrick.

Never thought of that possibility. Since Jr wants his team in cup someday. And she is a godaddy girl.

Hmm...good idea.

There's article on FOX Sports about Danica's decision deadline.

Source: Danica waiting on NASCAR decision until October - FOX Sports on MSN

I'll bold the important part which we're debating about:
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Danica Patrick's likely free agency at the end of the IndyCar Series will make her a hot commodity among teams in the open-wheel series and NASCAR.

Any announcement about her next move, however, will have to wait until October.

The IndyCar Series season finishes Oct. 10 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and she said Tuesday on a conference call that her main focus until then will be on winning as many races as she can and finishing as high in the driver's point standings as possible.

"To be very open about anything until that point would be foolish," said Patrick, who is fifth in IRL points. "That's for after the season and we'll worry about it then."

Patrick became the only woman to ever win a major open-wheel race last season in Japan, and she is in the final year of her three-year contract with Andretti-Green Racing.

She said she and her agents - IMG - are still gathering information about what her options will be, including talking with open-wheel teams and possibly NASCAR owners, too.

The move to stock cars has worked out well for Tony Stewart, who won two Sprint Cup Series championships and now contends for another as the owner of a two-car team. The struggles of Sam Hornish Jr. and Dario Franchitti would also have to weigh into her decision, she said.

"It's something to take notice of, and I think what it shows is that it is difficult and you do need as much help as possible," she said, "but as credit to them, they haven't been driving for the best teams in NASCAR either, so how can you really hold them accountable for not doing extremely well in the very beginning when they just don't have the resources?

"They don't drive for Hendrick or Roush or any of the top teams."

Hornish, a two-time IndyCar Series champion, finished 35th in points last season, his first full year in NASCAR's premier Sprint Cup Series, and is 24th through 15 races this year.

Franchitti struggled last year, and his team was closed in July for lack of sponsorship. He has since returned to the IRL.

Patrick has said in the past that if she were to make the move to NASCAR, she'd want it to be a lateral move, meaning she would move directly into a full-time Sprint Cup ride.

Interest from a top team, she said, could make that more attractive.

"One thing as drivers is we like to challenge ourselves and if we've done something well, can we do the next thing well?" she said. "I think it's an opportunity to show your ability. NASCAR has so many viewers and so many partners and there's just lots of options both inside and outside the car. And it looks like fun. ... It's you racing against everyone else really.

"It's very competitive. It's kind of like the Indy 500 every weekend, so that's a lot of fun as a driver to be part of something important and something people want to watch."

Important, too, she said, will be how the next opportunity impacts her "brand."

Asked to define that brand, she was hesitant.

"My brand is determined, it's feminine and hopefully - I feel a little bit awkward talking about myself like this - but something beautiful, something fast, something interesting and exciting and something inspiring and something iconic and something that's doing things that's never been done before," she said. "Those are all things that I would hope would describe my brand."

Patrick said she was uncertain whether rumors of NASCAR teams expressing an interest in her were true because she leaves that side of things to her agents. She added that when the time comes to make a decision, "we'll definitely be looking at all of our options."

As you see Danica will only join top team such as Hendrick, Roush, and perhaps RCR (not JGR, that's for elementary school children).

And good luck, Danica, moving into NASCAR Cup level instead of Nationwide is REAL mistake move. She need to learn how to race side by side with other 42 cars which she never experienced in IndyCar. She need to start ARCA or Nationwide to learn how to drive stock car then move up.

The key is patience. She is going to bring sponsorship with her so there is no problem there she would just need an owner with patience. Much like Penske is with Hornish. Hornish was and still is taking his lumps but he is starting to show signs of breaking through. If Danica can get in with a team that will give her time to adjust and learn she could be good you never know. Also like Hornish, Danica has another thing on her side age. She is like 27 lots of time. Franchitti and Tracy and Villenueve came in at like 35 plus on the down side of their carrer. So its like one and done if they don't get it they never will.

So there are things going for her and it could work out in the end.

You see, the problem is that she will need high-end team backing. That is exactly what really doomed Franchitti and Villeneuve from the start. Remember that when Tony Stewart entered NASCAR, JGR was on the verge of their first championship with Bobby Labonte, which happened in 2000 and was followed by Stewart himself two years later. She will need something like Hendrick or Roush equipment.

Otherwise...we will have another failiure.

Oh wait now Danica can drive a full year in the N'wide series with JR motorsports and the move up to The Sprint Cup with Jr or go to Stewart Hass but, maybe JUST maybe she can go in with stewart-hass in the N'wide series. Who knows? Nobody but Danica!

She won't go into the Cup series either. She is working on a deal with Ganassi, BUT it is for the IRL and the Grand-Am DP class, Not NASCAR. That was the original rumor, and then Mike Mulhern needed something to talk about so people think he's important, and well he did what he does best and makes up a story.
