The higher the resolution that you have your windows desktop set at can make a difference if you have a lower end machine. Your system uses more ram for larger resolutions. (Just watch your explorer.exe file after changing resolutions). This could save u lots of ram if you have your desktop in 640*480*32 or as low as it can go, as long as its 32bit, prior to starting your game. This can cause a problem in older games, but with n2003 i know it works. :cute:
my pciex 6600gt died so i have had to settle with a regular pci fx5500.
you should be able to run the game at 1680*1050*32 with everything turned up. you shouldn't have to worry about your desktop resolution with that rig. if you wanted to get a couple extra frames out of it tho, you could drop your windows resolution to something between 640*480*32 and 1280*1024*32. The smaller the resolution the greater the boost.
but like i said, you should see no lag in your game with your game jacked at your said resolution.
what do you have for a sound card?
...and how much space on your hard drive do you have free?
my sound card is a sound blaster audigy value and i have 131gb of free space. when i practice i get like 130fps alone. race time like 60 with only 12 cars drawn ahead. all my graphics are medium set.....
with that much ram on the card and in your system, i do not believe you are going to take a performance hit by increasing everything to max.. give it a try and let me know.
ok i ran a quick race at bristol with 25 cars (using asa late models) graphics maxed out and 24 opponents heard. my frame rates were anywhere from 30-42
That's great man!! That's more than enough fps, especially at bristol since everything is loaded into a smaller track. you will gain at least 10 more frames per second on a bigger oval, for example. where the cars are spread out more.
keep increasing until you cant start a race from the back of the pack. if its real sluggish and all over the place when the race starts then your graphics are too high.
i had overlooked that you said you maxed everything out. my apologizes.
there are some tweaks that you can do to increase the graphics even more. i am not sure exactly where to find them but a google search for n2003 tweaks or a search through this site should get u in the right direction. you can also download higher definition skies for the tracks also a search will turn them up.
i am using that graphics tweaker for the game. the most cars i will run is maybe 30 because all i use is the late model mod and most short tracks i run like 25 cars.
