Okay, well. Although I am working on 3 car sets at the moment (yes. 3 ;) ) and working 40+ hours a week, I still want to have my own offline season with paint schemes/performance/sponsorships and points. So, I will post in here all the action and updates from my current 2014 season. The schedule is fictional, but is taking some of my favorite tracks. I have laid out a schedule and what schemes are running that race as well. Currently, I have 22 races of 34 filled. I'm currently in progress of signing a new 6 race sponsor! As of right now, I have 2 "primary" sponsors and 3 full time associates. Dairy Queen/Orange Julius have hopped on to sponsor a total of 13 races this season. NBT Bank has signed on to 6. All of which are on the east coast. Expedia is a full time associate and has signed to be a primary for 2 races. Aspen Dental has signed on for Bristol mid-season, and Moxie, the popular New England soft drink has signed on to be the primary in 2 races this year, both being at New Hampshire. STP is a full time associate sponsor, as well as State Farm.

The schedule currently stands as this:

Daytona- DQ
Atlanta-
Watkins Glen- NBT
Texas-
Bristol- DQ
Talladega-
Dover- NBT
Pocono- NBT
Darlington- DQ
Martinsville-
Mesa Marin-
New Hampshire- Moxie
Richmond-
Iowa- DQ
Infineon- Expedia
Daytona-
Rockingham- NBT
Indianapolis- DQ
Charlotte-
California- Expedia
Texas-
Chicago- DQ
Bristol- Aspen Dental
Michigan- DQ
Pocono- NBT
Richmond- NBT
Talladega-
Papyrus- DQ
Mansfield- DQ
Las Vegas-
Michigan- DQ
New Hampshire- Moxie
Phoenix- DQ
Homestead-

Here are the current schemes for the 2014 season! DMP Racing is using #75 and running Chevrolets. We are receiving our engines from ECR.

Thanks for looking, I hope you follow along, enjoy reading, and enjoy the paint schemes our design team comes up with! We hope to have a great year!

RACE #1 : Daytona International Speedway

Well, we made it to Daytona! After a long off-season of frantically putting this team together. We feel we have a solid program to run the 2014 season with a full head of steam! With help from ECR, and Richard Childress Racing, we feel we have a strong presence already, even in our rookie year. Our driver, Dale Pettry, is a native of Northeast Pennsylvania, and has loved Nascar all his life. He has made his way up through the ranks, starting out with karting, and progressively moving up, attracting sponsors such as STP Oil, and Dairy Queen, who have stayed with him through this long process. He ran a few ARCA, Nascar K&N races, and a few Nationwide Series races over the past 2 years. With excellent results! Multiple sponsors have hopped on board for this season, giving us nearly 2/3 of a full schedule already. We couldn't be more grateful for this opportunity.

Sadly, Daytona proved as a challenge for the young rookie, who just barely raced his way into the Great American race on time. As he started outside the top 35, he was still optimistic about his chances, as Daytona has proved to be a place for rookies to prove they have what it takes.

As Sunday grew near, the pre-race nerves were setting in for Pettry. "Yeah, I know my guys have put together a great piece, and I have confidence in them. Right now I'm struggling with having confidence in myself. I've raced here only once before, in 2012, and I ended up plowing the wall 27 laps in." Unfortunately, as the green flag waved, Pettry had a strong vibration in his right front tire. He reported this to the team, but as the draft is so important at Daytona, they couldn't afford to hit pit road. Attempting to stick with the back of the pack, Pettry felt a grinding in the right front area, where the tire was. Coming out of turn #2, he lost the right front and slammed the outside safer barrier. He spun out, corrected it and ended up slapping the wall once more. As the caution comes out for his incapacitated race car, sitting on the backstretch. Pettry exited the car on his own power, but showed much frustration. As would any driver crashing out of his first Nascar Sprint Cup Series race. "I felt a vibration for the first few laps, and I knew something was gonna happen. I tried to ride it out until the competition caution came out on lap 20, but I guess the tire let go and I became that caution. Poor way to start the season, and I know these guys put together a great car. Sucks I couldn't bring it home for them. Still wanna thank Dairy Queen for coming on and sticking with me, it'll be a long journey, but we'll get better." Pettry finished 43rd in the Daytona 500. While Brian Scott slingshots around Matt Kenseth on the final lap with the help of a lap car to win the Daytona 500.

That would be cool to see Brian Scott pull that off in real life.

Yeah, it really would.

RACE #2 : Atlanta Motor Speedway

Well, after an underwhelming speedweeks and Daytona 500, we traveled to Atlanta. Missing a primary sponsor for the race, we ran our black/white car with DMP Racing logos on it for practice and qualifying. Hoping to attract a sponsor for the race. We didn't have a great practice, or qualifying, finishing out of the top 35 in both sessions.

Still unsigned with a primary for Sunday, our unfortunate session results didn't help to attract a sponsor. As the green flag waved, Pettry struggled to keep up with the rest of the field. On lap 6, we spun the car out of the tri-oval and on to pit road. Since it was a small single car spin off the track, no caution was waved. We ended up being caught 2 laps down by the time we got back on the track. After a couple smaller accidents and mechanical failures, we raced our way in to the top 30, still 2 laps down. We ended up finishing 28th despite being spun out again by the lead lap car of Kurt Busch. "We had a tough race out there, it was not one I expected to have, with all the incidents. Luckily we salvaged a good top 30 finish, and hopefully sponsors took notice of the heart this team puts in day in and day out. On to Watkins Glen now, a track I have a lot of high expectations for."

I actually enjoy reading things like this. I find them interesting, and makes me want to do a storyline type thing like this when I start my 2014 season. (I know I'm a few races behind...only 6 :p)

What percentage races do you do?

I made up lap amounts while making the schedule, so I run 100%. It's the equivalent of about 10-15% normally. Thanks for viewing!

RACE #3 : Watkins Glen International

We made it! From the southern traffic of Atlanta, to the serene lake region of Watkins Glen, New York. It's beautiful up here, quiet, and calm. Dale Pettry was coming off his 28th place finish and looking for a strong run at one of his favorite tracks.

After a blazing fast practice and happy hour session, Pettry was feeling confident about his chances. "Yeah, we finished in the top 10 in both sessions there, and my guys have put together a great piece for me this weekend, hopefully I can hang it all out and get us a top 10 and maybe even a pole position." Well, Pettry was right about his team giving him a great piece, because he went out in qualifying and sat his NBT Bank Chevrolet on the pole!

"Coming to the green I almost wrecked her. But somehow I held on and put this rocket P1." Thanks to all my guys, hopefully we can bring it home in one piece and with a solid finish!"

Unfortunately, it was an uphill battle from turn 1. As Pettry led the field to take the green, he spun his tires and lost several positions. He also lost control and slid it into the sand on the first lap, causing him to drop to about 15th.

As Pettry raced his way back up, and he got to the edge of the top 10, he tried to put a move on Matt Kenseth, but was blocked, and it sent them both into the wall, also involving Joey Logano. All three drivers continued on, but Pettry's tires were worn after the contact.

He spun out yet again on that lap, at that point he dropped to around 25th. After making another 3 or 4 clean laps, he spun yet again, in the same spot. This time he was collected by fellow driver AJ Allmendinger after the spin, ending both their days.

"Yeah, it sucks. Today started out so well but just everything kept piling up on us. We were loose all race, mostly my fault as I asked for a loose race car, I like to hang it out, more speed, etc. We were fast though, even after the mishaps we had speed. Just as I was finally making up ground though, the #20 just completely ran us into the wall. It sucks, plenty of laps to go and he basically ruins our day, Logano's too. I got it straight only to spin out again. It sucks, then the #47 just plows into us after another spin. I don't know what he was thinking, but it looked like he was aiming straight for us. Whatever. I won't forget the ones who caused this day to be crap, that's 2 weeks in a row now we were wrecked with plenty of time left and no real reason. It just sucks, because we had a bullet today."

Pettry finished 37th after a rough day in New York.

RACE # 4 : Texas Motor Speedway

Good news! We made it to Texas, the Lone Star State, for week 4 of Nascar Sprint Cup action! We came into this weekend without a primary sponsor on the car. We got a call mid-day on Tuesday though, from BNSF Railway. They said they were impressed so far, especially our speed, despite the issues at the Glen. They have hopped on board as the primary for both Texas races this year. We couldn't be happier for that! Plus, the scheme is very nice too, and the orange really glows in the Texas sun.

We practiced race runs in both sessions only, as we know that we won't have a shot for the pole here. But we had another rocket for the long run. After finishing top 20 in both practice sessions. We were ready for qualifying. As expected, the speed was missing, as we qualified 40th, but Pettry didn't seem to sweat it. "Yup, we worked on race runs for both sessions, so I have high hopes for Sunday. After a few rough weeks it's good to be at a whole new track, with a new car, and a new sponsor. Thanks to BNSF for hopping on board for these races, hopefully we can make them proud!"

Almost got in to some trouble with David Gilliland, but Pettry made a great save in turn 2 to keep it out of the fence.

As Sunday drew near, Pettry had some confidence in his chances. "Well, I just hope we can keep it out of the fence today. Really that's what we need. We're looking for our first top 25 of the year, and I'm confident today we can pull that off. My guys have given me a really nice car, and I just have to navigate my way through today."

The green flag waved on Texas Motor Speedway with Dale Pettry starting in 40th. He was off to a slow start, but then started to pick up spots. He made it to the top 30 with 15 laps to go, and continued from there. He drove all the way up to 22nd and stalled out there. A last lap pass by Ryan Newman caused Pettry to finish 23rd. Nonetheless, the team was ecstatic about their first top 25, and was also proud of their fellow racer, Paul Menard who took the checkers today in first. Followed by Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin rounding out the podium.

"It was a great race out there, car was just a little too tight at the end. Either way, I'm so proud of my team, we're making progress. Thanks to BNSF, Dairy Queen, NBT and all my sponsors. We're gonna have a good year, we just had to shake the rookie issues. We are getting there though, on to Bristol, where our chances are even better."

This is pretty cool and fun to read. If I knew people found offline series more interesting I might have contributed my own that I run year in and out with a sort of news recap for each race event.

Glad to see others like switching things up and running fictional drivers/seasons.

RACE # 5 : Bristol Motor Speedway

Ah, Bristol, Tennessee. Nicknamed Thunder Valley, and for good reason. Dale Pettry was coming off his 23rd place finish in Texas, and was excited to go to one of his favorite tracks. "It's Bristol, baby! Great to be here, and it's great to have Orange Julius on the #75 Chevy this weekend, hopefully we can give 'em hell."

Again, we practiced race runs in practice, and ended up qualifying 40th again. Although track position is key here, we knew our car was fast and was able to work the bottom beautifully.

As the sun rose in the valley on Sunday, our team was nothing but confident. "We have a great car today on the short run, which Bristol is known for, so hopefully we can get up there and score another top 25!"

The green flag waved and immediately Pettry passed 5 cars in the first couple laps. He made it to 33rd by lap 10 and continued to improve. After a few short cautions, Pettry was up to 25th, he had seemed to stall out. As another caution waved for Michael McDowell losing an engine, Pettry had a sudden surge and drove his way to 11th with a few laps to go. He drove up to the lap car of Marcos Ambrose, the driver of the #9 Ford made his car very wide, as Pettry tried to squeeze around him in turn 1, he lost control, bringing the aussie with him. Pettry managed to save the car, though Ambrose spun out he didn't hit anything, and both continued on. Though Pettry lost 3 spots, and dropped to 14th where he stayed to finish the race. Setting the mark of his best career finish and the best finish for DMP Racing thus far. "My team did a great job out there, I almost screwed up trying to get around the lap car there, just got a little greedy, but luck was on my side there. Saved it, continue and got us a top 15. Great finish for us, especially since we started 40th. On to Talladega now, where I'm a little intimidated, but, I know my team with show up to race."

After Pettry's impressive 14th place finish in his Bristol NSCS debut, Walter Energy Services has jumped on board as the primary, to fill 4 races this year! Both Talladega races, Martinsville, and Charlotte later on this year. Great to hear from them, and we're very thankful!

RACE # 6 : Talladega Superspeedway

It's Talladega! From the steep banking to the blazing speeds, to the carnage and the chaos. We've made it to Alabama, and we're ready to race! Dale Pettry and DMP Racing arrive coming off their career best finish of 14th at Bristol. We landed a new sponsor as well, Walter Energy. And we rolled the paint scheme out to practice, and it looked great. We ran decent in the draft, but sadly we were just missing in both sessions. Qualifying didn't turn out much better as we raced our way in, starting 43rd.

Race day came, and Pettry was confident they could make up a few spots on the race track, and was hoping to get lucky in the draft. As the green flag waved, Pettry raced up in to the top 30, but shortly after felt a vibration under the hood. He lost about 15mph, and he lost the draft. After an accident Pettry winded up coming to a 37th place finish. The team later found out that the motor went down a cylinder early in the run.

"Yeah...that sucks. At a track where the draft is key, we can't be missing power. Sadly, we were. And we finished 37th...again. But, next week should be better, I hope. Dover, my favorite track. Thanks to Walter Energy for jumping on this year, hopefully at Martinsville we can show them what we're made of."

Aric Almirola crossed the finish line first barely nudging Reed Sorenson and Parker Kligerman for the win at Talladega.

RACE # 7 : Dover International Speedway

Dover, Delaware. Somewhat of a homecoming of sorts for us here at DMP Racing. To say we were excited for this race would be an understatement. This was Dale Pettry's favorite track, and we had NBT Bank on the car this weekend. We arrived on Wednesday and it a little breezy, but overall a nice spring day in Delaware. Pettry went out for 6 laps in the first practice session. He pulled in, got out of the car. Walked to crew chief Brent Reed, shook his hand and said thank you. Pettry's #75 was fast. As it stayed on top of the board all session. Qualifying came around and the result was no different, he raced around the track to put his NBT Bank Chevy on the pole for Sunday's race. "Yeah, Brent gave me another bullet here, and I'm really looking forward to Sunday. It's time to right this ship, and it starts here. Look out, because here we come."

Sunday came quickly for the excited Pettry, who said he couldn't wait to get out there.

As the green flag waved on the field, Pettry started off right where he left off. He led quickly and started pulling away from Dale Earnhardt Jr. He had a 3 second lead by lap 25, and then an accident happened, taking out a large portion of the field and only leaving a few cars on the lead lap. Pettry chose not to pit and when the green flag flew again, he left the scene once more. He ended up pulling around the track and lapped every competitor, something unheard of in the current state of Nascar. Pettry led every lap on his way to his first career victory.

Pettry got out of his #75 NBT Bank Chevy in victory lane with a huge grin on his face. As he jumped off the car into the arms of his crew, he had tears in his eyes. "Oh God, it's been...one hell of a journey to get here. Let alone the last few years, this year by itself has been a struggle. From the wrecks, to the sponsor issues, to every rookie mistake I've made, all the hard work this team has put in has finally paid off. I said this is where we turn this season around, and I had a great feeling on Friday. Brent gave me a rocket, and we put it on the pole, led every lap, and we won. We won a Sprint Cup race! How about that...God. Thanks to all my sponsors and supporters...NBT Bank, Dairy Queen, uh, Expedia, STP, State Farm, Walter, Chevy, and Sprint for making this all happen. Can't thank the fans enough either. They make this possible. Ah, thank you. We're here to stay guys, let's go get some more."

After Pettry won his first career Nascar Sprint Cup Series race, he also bring the DMP Racing banner with him. It's been a long journey, but we've made it. Let's keep it rolling. On to Pocono!

RACE # 8 : Pocono Raceway

The trick triangle! We have arrived to the beautiful mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. A place we like to call home. As we are based about an hour from this facility. Coming off his win, Pettry felt a warm welcome to his home. "Yeah, it's great to be here. I'm still pumped about last week's win, hopefully it'll give us that shot we need to get this season going."

Pettry qualified 43rd on Friday, but his confidence never quivered as qualifying hasn't been the team's strong suit this year, despite the two poles.

Sunday appeared and the team was ready for battle. The race started out slow, with Pettry making up 15 or so positions in the first few laps, but after a few cars wiggle midway through turn 3, the field stacked up, involving many drivers, including Pettry. Leaving the accident relatively unscathed, Pettry continued to motor around the track around 28th. After a few more incidents, Pettry wound up 22nd to finish the day. A solid end to a possible disaster. "We had an okay NBT Chevy today, but we got lucky with the timing of the incidents around us, it could have been much worse. 22nd isn't bad, especially since we had a pretty slow car all weekend. All in all, not bad. But we can do better. On to Darlington now, where we get the return of the Dairy Queen #75."
