Do you Ever...

Just want to hit someone after they say something that hurts you? I invited my family over to my house last night for dinner. We had finished eating and were talking about things in the living room. My mother was talking about her sister's daughter and how amazingly smart she is, and how amazing it is that she loves learning, and how amazing it is that she's in her senior year and learning advanced quantum mechanics, and said "why couldn't my kids be like that?". Right in front of me. Was she not paying attention? And nobody looked at me like, "did she just say what I think she said?" or anything like that. It's like nobody cared.

So, later in the night, my mother left and the people I invited left, and I went to bed, and wondered why my mom would say something like that right in front of me, or at all. I graduated high school, went through a lot of college, held a part-time job the entire time, never got into trouble with the law, or anyone AT ALL as a kid... And now I found out she's upset that I didn't get into advanced quantum mechanics and that I was just another average man that isn't famous or anything...

Sorry to complain, I just wanted to get this off my chest, and OBVIOUSLY I have nobody to come to about this but you guys...

Eh, I wouldn't get too worked up over it. I'm sure your mother loves you and I'm sure she didn't mean it in a way to offend you. If I were you, I'd have a talk with her about it and work it out.

And you have the ability to report the bully to a teacher or another adult. You could also stand up for yourself. I, however, cannot. Who do I report my mom to? And I can't be disrespectful, either.

That is defiantly a tough situation to be in. Sometimes Mom's don't really think about what they say especially in front of others. Hopefully you can talk to her and work it out.

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't care about it. Don't worry about what other people do or not do, worry about yourself and your well-being, everything in a respectful manner of course.

That's a great idea, i will do that when i am in one of those situations in the future.
