Does SRD need a Redesign?

I think that the site is easy to navigate, and very efficient. It works very well for its intended purpose.
I don't really see a need for a drastic change, other than maybe something on the main screen where we can see the latest downloads.

I think maybe after the new year a different look would be nice. Just so it's different. Like a new paint scheme!

Maybe some new bells and whistles would draw more input from posters. Everyday I see where usually more than 100 members have been here but there are very few posts.
I'd like to be able to upload some files, logos, bases, numbers etc., I think only a mod can do that now. Seems like a moderator to check and approve things like that would be a benefit. You'd have to have some standards to keep it from becoming another nnracing.com, where some people upload some very shoddy stuff. That's gotta be a drain financially on the site owner, nobody wants to see that happen.
The site IS good, but everything can be improved. The staff does a good job from keeping all the sniping and fueding that I see at other forums from creeping in here. Some places I totally avoid because of situations just like that. The only thing I can think for that's really in need of work are the icons on which forums have new posts. The light blue-slightly darker blue icons used now are sometimes hard to tell apart at a glance.
That's just some honest feedback, I hope I haven't stepped on anybody's toes, that's not my intention.

Brak61, you're not stepping on anyones toes, this thread is about opinions and they all help. you're opinion is appreciated. Now for mine, i think maybe a fresh coat of paint. the layout is fine to me. remember guys too much change means finding where stuff is again.

One site I used to work for gave all registered members 4-6MB of upload space with which to upload pictures, videos, whatever they'd like as long as it fit into our guidelines.
I'm not sure if SRD can do that, but assuming it is possible, is that something you guys would like to have here?
Also, I said a while ago that this site badly needs some sort of central showcase of what's new here. It shows what's new, but also shows this place is kept updated, fresh and active a lot more than a little icon can. That's something I'd especially like to see. A link to all the different download categories can be provided from one link on the home page. This would clear enough space for the what's new showcase.

site is fine by me, idk if its possible, but i had an idea, change the site colors each week to match the race winner's paint, would be kinda neat :twitcy:

That's interesting, but a bit over dramatic. Something a little more practical might be to post the top 5 from the past race and the top 10 in points over to the side...kind of like what NascarNet has on their homepage...

I agree about the downloads posted on the main page. Also would be cool if you guys could fix the download problem, where you click on the thumbnail to see the car, but it gives you the download anyway. It's been like that for a while now, but it still gets me every time.
