The way he said stomach in that interview made me laugh.

This isn't surprising...that was probably the worst crash I've seen.

I'm in a bit of disbelief thinking this is the hardest. Only because I would feel a bit prouder if I limped away from the hardest crash ever uninjured.

Yaeh it was deffinatly the worst crash that i barely saw the nose of the car hit the wall. But seriously, i really thought he was hurt when i saw this.

Geoff Bodine's crash wasn't really a hard compared to others.... It just looked deadly.

He grinds against a fence at full speed on a superspeedway, has his engine ignite, the impact rips his front AND back axles off, most of his sheet metal and the motor came flying out, then when his truck was nothing more than a flaming roll cage he was t-boned by an intact truck, that wasn't hard? I'd say that was way worse than this, though I'm not taking anything off from this being a bad lick.

But in terms of g-force, i don't think geoff bodine's wreck was worse. But it was definitatly much worse looking than sadler's.

Michael McDowell's 2008 Texas qualifiying crash (starts at 27 sec). Not sure if it was harder than Sadler's, but McDowell was going 186 mph when he hit the wall.

Technically Michael McDowell didn't hit the wall at 185mph. The car was traveling 185mph but it wasn't 185 towards the wall. It was more like 80 - 90 and most of the energy carried the car down the track and not into the wall like Sadlers.

This is correct. Elliott hit the wall head on, McDowell slid into it, which makes the impact not as hard.

I'm not sure. That was in an F2 type series to IRL remember, so probably. However, he would of definitely still head pretty bad head injuries even if the crash happened in present day.

ummmm Greg Moore was killed in a CART race, and had been a CART driver for 4 seasons. It wasn't a ladder series, nor was it associated with the Irl.

He wasn't a Penske development driver either, he was signed to drive for them the next season.

You wanna talk about a promising driver. I remember watching that race even though I was 12. I was baffled that they would have the wall like that. I originally thought it was a wall straight out then learned it was more of a diagonal. Shame what happened to that young man.

Another angle of the Bodine wreck^^

I think the thing with this wreck was how deadly it really looked. Yes, he hit full speed into a fence. But as he tumbled energy wore off of the truck. If you look at all the deaths that happened between that 1 year period, all of them were head on. That's what makes the Elliot wreck so bad. It was head on at 160 mph. Like I said to some friends on skype the second we saw he was ok, "Had that been 10 years ago he would be dead."

Yeah sorry about that I just got if off one of the replays on youtube it's the rear view of Kurt's car so with the dirt it's hard to see to begin with. I tried to find better quality but couldn't but you can still kind of see the engine and elliott on his side.

i was reading a blog about the wreck somewere i dont remember the link but nascar mandates the braces that hold the motor in place in case the car rolled over or hit the wall hard enough to knock it loose .....that was the first time since they were mandated that the motor came out of the car

Heres a crash where the engine also gets removed by nature:

Yeah, I remember that wreck, too. I remember watching it live and as they cut to it real quick just before his car hit, I remember my dad and I just standing up and freaking out, knowing he had to have died right there.

Bad wreck for Sadler, I'm glad he got away from it with just soreness. He's one of the good guys in NASCAR. Does anyone know if he actually flipped over?

I've heard from people who were at the track that he almost did.
