Really? We really needed to create an entire topic on this? I don't know, it just seems like a lot of whining over things that I haven't really noticed myself. Maybe I'm blind or deaf or whatever (which I'm not), but I really don't notice a lot of what everyone complains about. Yeah, Marty Reid is annoying and every once in awhile they drop the ball on catching a wreck or something, but overall their coverage is just fine. The pit reporters also bust their butts to keep us updated on what's going on. I just don't see what the fuss is all about.

the only issue with ESPN is their tendency to focus to much up front, but even then I've seen improvement in that.

Here's my two cents on ESPN's coverage.

I've noticed alot of mistakes/errors...and I'm not usually one to pay that much attention to it, but its even captured my attention.

I think one of the reasons why they are being so heavily criticized, is because they were so good in the 90's. The dropoff that they've had has surprised the masses....I'm one of those...I couldn't wait to see the races back on ESPN...now I can't wait to see the contract expire with ESPN.

I always watch the televised races and have been doing so for years since they first started showing them on the tube. FOX had the best coverage with thier picture in picture look which allowed the sponsors to get their message out without having to miss any of the race which is usually still going on when they interupt to show senseless commercials that we've seen many times already and don't get to see what happens when they are gone from the race. I know it's important for the networks to get the sponsors coverage/message out to the viewers, but they all need to start using the picture in picture inovation so that we can see the race we tuned into see in the first place.

I wouldn't know, Sandman.... lol

That's a good thing. I did that to someone as a prank years ago. His little sister ended up having an accident because of it, which was quite hilarious. Stuck up little (insert insult here) she was...

How much do you wanna bet that if FOX had broadcasted the fall Pocono race instead of ESPN, that we would've seen Elliott hit the wall at 3 different angles?

How much do you want to bet that if FOX broadcasted every race, NASCAR would have much higher ratings?

Between the NFL and NASCAR around this time, and you're David Hill, what do you pick?

Exactly. My first sport is hockey and that is considerably more marginalized in the states than NASCAR. Too bad the NHL could lockout at the exact same time as the NFL. Could have made some inroads, but with Donald Fehr at the helm of the NHLPA things don't look so good. Either way if the NFL locks out NASCAR better make sure it puts on a show.

The NFL is looking towards that lockout next year, so yeah, NASCAR better capitalize while they still have a chance.

TNT Would be perfect this year if they kept Ralph up in the booth.

Either you can have coverage like this: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X1d7NYY85k&feature=related]YouTube - 2010 Aaron's 312 - Insane Finish (Replays of Setzer's Crash) 2 / 3[/ame]

Or this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0eopkCvbYk"]YouTube - 2010 Coke Zero 400 - The Big One [Extended Version][/ame]
