I grew up helping on the #79 Dodge driven by Frank Warren. So yes Frank was and still is my favorite"not so famous"driver. On a side note I just found out how to get in touch with him after almost 20 years.
My favorites would be David Reutimann in the Cup and Busch series and Matt Crafton in the truck series, but I typically root for anyone who hasn't had a whole lot of success
I think my favorite would have to be Lance Hooper. Watched him cut his teeth at Saugus Speedway and work his way up to drive Richard Jackson's #1 Hooters Pontiac in the Winston Cup Series.
Last I knew, Lance was a crew chief/team manager at Key Motorsports.
At Saugus he drove an orange #07 Late Model, and one time he thrilled the crowd by nearly upsetting the field at Saugus' annual Winston West Series race. That race featured names like Bill Sedgwick, Ron Hornaday Jr., Butch Gilliland and others.
Continuing the theme, I'd nominate Saugus as one of the best "not so famous" NASCAR venues.
I'd have to go with Marty Robbins, he would race at nashville on saturday and afterwards perform at the Grand Ole Opry, he could sing as well plus his paint schemes were pretty cool!!
Buckshot Jones was my Favorite Busch driver. He was talented, and I think that if he had some decent equipment on the cup side, he could have done well. That's why I run #00 on all of my NR2003 cars.
I'm also a fan of Matt Kobyluck, I got to see him run late models at the Waterford Speedbowl before he went to the East series, the same goes for Kelly Moore and Ryan Moore.
