Suprised nobody has posted the preview shots we got on the iracing forum from like a week ago lol. Like the title says, the first night version of a track is coming out in the upcoming build in a few weeks. Pictures are of richmond at night. every lightsource around the track is used.

sweet idea but i think they should have started night versions with at least daytona and went from there no problem with richmond and all though. BTW and this is a little off-topic but i figured i'd ask since we're talking about tracks is iracing planning on doing any dirt tracks?

I know a beta tester and he said they wanted to start with a small track to see what kind of FPS people would be getting before they did a big track.

Im with Matt on the about time front (weird, i know).... IMO it's too little. 2 years after the public launch, and we only get 1 track, with static night. We should have dynamic lighting by now (heck rfactor and gtr2 have had it since 05-06), if not static lighting on every oval....

But these do look quite nice. (but i hate Richmond.....)

yeah FPS is important as far as having a decent race on a track like that so i understand the reasoning behind the choice of richmond now. well hopefully bristol's next.

And also in able to get dirt racing they would need to implement dynamic tracks for dirt to work well.

I wouldn't expect Dirt racing for quite a while on iRacing. Especially not until they get done completing the NASCAR schedules and the new Nationwide COT.

As for the Night racing being "epic", I express that for the plain fact that it is indeed overdue. I don't see why it can't be epic because it hasn't been there before. The first night race always leads into more of them for the other tracks.

I expect it to be epic as well because now we'll have updated night racing physics and not those from the year 2002. :)

Oh god, not the n2003 comparison again.

And you wonder why you iRacing fanboys are so hated on these boards.

So sensitive.

We're hated because we don't still believe NR2003 is the end all be all of oval sims. I don't understand it sometimes, iRacing can be challenged...but Nr2003 isn't to be touched in a response.

The first negativity in this thread didn't come from myself or another "fanboy" Matt. I also wasn't the first one to bring up the famous Papy sim. Both from you.

All I said was "it's about time".

I don't get it. Your acting like this night track is some groundbreaking technology that's never been seen before, as by your word "epic".

I pointed out where night racing has been around for 10+ years.

You bring up old physics, ie: nr2003

But I am the bad guy?

Your a fanboy, I get it. You can be blinded by the lack of production, but I'm not.

3 years after going live and they just now have their first night track? Not impressed at all.

Matt, after only seven races I can't expect you to have a full grasp on iRacing. However after over 300 of my own I can truly picture iRacing with Night Racing. I never once said it was groundbreaking technology. All I said was "epic" and left it up to others to decide for themselves and let people think what they want, apparently the concept rang true.

I just don't see what is so controversial about what I said.

iRacing = The best.

iRacing with Night Racing = Epic.

End of story.

lol, after beta testing with them until they went live in 2007, I have a full grasp about iracing and what they are about.

Since when does logging laps indicate how someone grasps the lack of production by a particular sim anyway?

iRacing the best? Not at these boards. Better go back to iracing for that.

Of course it isn't at these boards, this is an NR2003 website. However when someone expresses a form of excitement towards something new at iRacing it is met with negativity.

I just don't want people to get the wrong idea of you at iRacing and believe you are experienced there. BETA testing and paying for the product are two completely different things. You spent time dealing with bugs and errors, and I do not. I get the product for what it is, not what it is supposed to be.
