Figured I'd make 1 thread to put all my Fall/Winter cars in. Most of these are gonna be my personal team cars but there may end up being a few other non-team cars added in as well over the next few months. I hope to eventually have all of these up for people to download but that'll only happen if I make crews/driversuits which is something I usually slack-off on... lol

#69 Hurst Dodge Challenger "Street Edition" WIP [NWS11]

Couple of things here.
(1) -- Hurst Grille was made by editing the default grille to cover the R/T logo & then adding a Hurst Logo I found on Google. By the end of the weekend I plan to release the "R/T Coverup" + Hurst Grille Badge for download both the Gold version pictured as well as the Red/Black logo.

(2) -- The idea behind this version of the car is that the NASCAR/Sponsor/Number logos will be "ghosted" so that from a quick glance it looks like a non-decaled Hurt Challenger. It's going to be the 'Street-Legal' Showcar for the fully decaled version that is the actual Racecar. As you can see in the render the the Tiwi & Nationwide window logos are "ghosted" too.

(3) -- There will also be a White base version which will be the teams second car.

(4) -- Striping not intending to be an exact replica of the Hurst Challengers, just inspired by it.

Template = SRD
Render = Myself with the Mental Ray Scene
Base = Me
Gold texture = Google
Grille Mod = Done by me using default grille, Hurst logo from Google.
Number (ghosted so it's hard to see) = a self-modified version of the Evernham #9, honestly forgot where I got it from a year or so ago, but I modified it into a 69 without the Evernham Flags that the number originally had.

(y)

Updated the first post with pix of the finished car & Ghosted out Showcar. With my own quickly made custom layout look. 69DesignZ is what I came up with as a name for my design company almost a decade ago now when I did some custom bicycle painting for a few friends, and it's just stuck for the handful of real cars I've done stuff for as well as my gaming stuff.

I'm really liking where this is heading. An interesting concept well executed.

From the front end shot it looks as though the gold has some 'tiling' going on. If that is the case (and you'd like an alternate way of doing it) might I suggest adding a metalflake layer? Essentially what you want to do is create a new layer above the stripes, fill it with 50% gray, Add Noise (the default settings are usually good enough although you can tweak them for smaller/larger 'flake') and change the Layer Blending Options to 'Multiply' and then play with the Opacity.

That's what I did to achieve the metallic gold on the attached.

Just a thought.

I think the tiling is just the shading and/or lighting from the render because it doesn't look tiled on the flat. I'll definitely have to try the "homemade" metalflake layer next time I use Gold, currently I'm using a texture I found in a Google Search. XD

Anyway here is a WIP of my next car, this one is for Mustangs offline league.

It is based off of this legendary racecar that competed in the JGTC series. Most may know of it from the Gran Turismo games.

Template by Phantomguy24 with many modifications by me.
I changed up the shading/bezel around the headlight covers so that it was "Bodycolor Matched" , I added fender vents, exhaust & tow-hooks from a PTA template, Fuel Filler (both sides) Rain/Pit light on the back of the spoiler & the lower grille shading from the Aussie V8 Supercar template, NACA Duct from a SIModified template, & Engine/Power shutoff "Marshal Switches" from a GTP template. Oh and I played around with Phantoms hood shading to try and get a little better effect but looking at it in the render it didn't really have the more pronounced effect I was trying to make it have.

I gotta say the lower grille opening looks better in the render then I thought it would.
