I've been having trouble lately with running NR2003. My FPS will be around 40 and randomly drop to 9. It doesn't matter where I am in relation to the track, how many cars are around me, etc. Any ideas on how to fix it ?

Make sure that you have the Low Rez-Many cars option selected in I think graphics catagory in the options menu and have the buildings, grandstands, etc, turned OFF. I can run Daytona and Talladega like this and it works fine for me, although even with the graphics off, I have to run with 7-15 FPS due to my low-end graphics card.

Sometimes this will happen to me. try to tone down your graphics settings and see if that helps. It may also be because of what mod you are using. certain mods such as cup11 take up more framerate than mods like the default cup or BR11. It also may be caused by the track. are there any tracks/mods that this happens with a lot?

It happens randomly, anywhere. I could be leading at the original Atlanta with no cars in my drawing distance and objects off and it'll still drop really bad, just not as bad

Because it is so random...

You might have program(s) running in background. Norton, or other anti-virus, or malware, likely causes -- if that's it.

Some folks have had success with 'Game Booster' (free download) to stop programs from running while they're racing. (No personal knowledge by usage, but I checked it out and seems cool.)

No expert, just a guess.

Keep the good discriptions coming, and somebody will be able to help you out.

System spec's (whatever you know) can help folks zero in. Your os, and av info, might shed light. (gaming modes etc.)

Once you get it sorted out, I would suggest looking into this. Comes highly recommended.

Good luck. :)

Disclaimer: always be careful you're only downloading what you want. Careful about reading everything, and unchecking boxes for voluntarily accepting things like "ASK" toolbar etc.

Game Booster (haven't used)

CCleaner, Uesing (run them multiple times) and maintenance (defrag etc.) might help too. I personally use these.

Please post back, when you find the culprit/solution, so others may benefit.
