When I race with 20--43 cars, the framerate screws me, and I'm suddenly causing the Big One. Is there a fix without altering the graphic quality?

haha, not so much. You can try dropping the number of sound channels to about 8 or so. You can also use the Graphics Tweaker to optimize your settings. Also make sure that you graphics card is selected through 3d graphics config. Otherwise your processor takes on everything and that's no good. Also make sure you are running as few programs in the background as possible. Sorry bud, but if you're running SS.net, there's not much else to do but tinker with the graphics to see framerates improve.
