Hey guys, I'm hoping that all of you more experienced sim racers / painters / computer guys could help me. I'm doing some system maintenance and I figured I would do a fresh install of NR2003 while I'm at it - but now that it's almost time to actually do it, I'm getting kinda nervous. If you could review the list below (my plan of attack) and let me know if I'm forgetting anything (and if you think I'm doing this in the right order), it would be much appreciated! :spinny:
- Back up all of my car files, setup files, and tracks that have been added
- Uninstall NR2003
- Run Crap Cleaner to correct any DLL / registry issues
- Reboot
- Re-Install NR2003
- Run the 1.2.0.1 patch
- Install MethylEthyl's Sounds of 09a Sound Pack, M42's Hemi Engine Sounds, and Jimmie Johnson spotter pack
- Install SS.net COT mod (plus the COT mod w/ CTS physics)
- Install the OmegaRacing CTS07 mod
- Install the GNS07 mod & run the Nationwide converter
- Copy all car files into appropriate series
- Reinstall track folders
- Tweak the .ini using the suggested Graphics Tweaks (I think I saved them as a word document)
- Tweak the .ini using the suggested Sound Tweaks
- Re-set up my Momo wheel according to a guide I found somewhere on the net
- Start the game, set up new player profile & select my personal car, set up desired rosters, etc, then quit the game
- Copy my setups from backup
- Reboot the computer, load NR2003 and drive.
I think I have everything covered, but I'm still nervous because I just saw that Racelinecentral is down and I can't remember if I have all of the files I'm going to need to get everything set up like before. So if any of you have anything to add, please do!
Thanks guys!
<EDIT> So I decided to go home @ lunchtime and do the fresh install - but after I backed everything up, ran the uninstall, ran Crap Cleaner, rebooted, put in the cd, re-installed and patched, when I loaded the game it had automatically re-installed all of my mods!?!?! It even kept the mainback screens I had installed. Why would that happen? The whole point of doing this was to clean out all of the random tracks, cars, wav files, etc. I have accumulated in my folders that I don't use and to start fresh with a clean slate.........if anybody can lend any insight to this I would appreciate it.
