For any one who uses a game pad and not a wheel or doesnt have a wheel at this time. I use this when I travel and or was on deployment. Worked wonderfully. Hope this helps people.
This configuration could be made to use other controllers I assume, but I mapped it to the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for MS Windows via a program called Pinnacle Game Profiler.
Button Mapping.
Back = change view
Start = pause
y= look left
b = look right
a = cycles through your Function Keys
x = clutch
RB (Right Bumper) = Shift Up
LB (Left Bumper) = Shift Down
D Pad = Mapped to each arrow key.
Joy stick 2 (button) = Space Bar (for changes to your car)
Left Trigger = Brake (Calibrated in Game) for sensitivity purposes
Right Trigger = Gas (Calibrated in Game) for sensitivity purposes
Instruction are download and install pinnacle game profiler.
Then run the profiler, go to the top right button/link (Game Profiles).
Click new: Call it NR2k3 or what ever you like, then map to the exe file for NR2k3. Then hit import and you are good to go.
This profile only works if you start the game via the profiler and not the original exe path.
I got onto this program when I was making a profile for Oblivion for when I deployed since i previously owned the game on my PS3 and was hooked and wasn't done exploring and searching the world.
The triggers are pressure sensitive and allow for gradual roll out of the throttle for a more realistic response to a simulation vs the standard need for speed style where you hold it down to go and release to coast.
Hope this helps someone. Leave me some feed back if you use this or change something that you think makes it more fluid for in race use. 7 more options still available for mapping of additional commands if you see one you want to add. I get by just fine with what i have listed above.
