For any one who uses a game pad and not a wheel or doesnt have a wheel at this time. I use this when I travel and or was on deployment. Worked wonderfully. Hope this helps people.

This configuration could be made to use other controllers I assume, but I mapped it to the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for MS Windows via a program called Pinnacle Game Profiler.

Button Mapping.

Back = change view
Start = pause
y= look left
b = look right
a = cycles through your Function Keys
x = clutch
RB (Right Bumper) = Shift Up
LB (Left Bumper) = Shift Down
D Pad = Mapped to each arrow key.
Joy stick 2 (button) = Space Bar (for changes to your car)
Left Trigger = Brake (Calibrated in Game) for sensitivity purposes
Right Trigger = Gas (Calibrated in Game) for sensitivity purposes

Instruction are download and install pinnacle game profiler.

Then run the profiler, go to the top right button/link (Game Profiles).
Click new: Call it NR2k3 or what ever you like, then map to the exe file for NR2k3. Then hit import and you are good to go.

This profile only works if you start the game via the profiler and not the original exe path.

I got onto this program when I was making a profile for Oblivion for when I deployed since i previously owned the game on my PS3 and was hooked and wasn't done exploring and searching the world.

The triggers are pressure sensitive and allow for gradual roll out of the throttle for a more realistic response to a simulation vs the standard need for speed style where you hold it down to go and release to coast.

Hope this helps someone. Leave me some feed back if you use this or change something that you think makes it more fluid for in race use. 7 more options still available for mapping of additional commands if you see one you want to add. I get by just fine with what i have listed above.

You download the programs and this file. install the program then go to the top right corner where it says Game Profiles. Then import the profile i have attached in this thread. And save it. Then you are good to go.

it sure does. If you want my wheel profile i can give you that to, but everyones wheel is not the same. I have the GT5 wheel by logitech for the PS3 and i also use it on my pc. See that just fine. I have a config for it as well, where the buttons on the wheel do my pit commands, change views and so on.

well the xbox 360 controller is what i have the profile mapped for, you can use the one strait from the console, just download the drivers from microsoft.

The program also supports ps3 controllers and wheels. So its a great button mapping program in my opinion.

This is the link for the drivers for the controller as XBOX is a microsoft product. Microsoft created and published drivers for a wired and wireless version of the 360 controller.

Software Download

As for getting it in game. You just plug it in and load the drivers from the link above. After that you are good. When you run NR2k3 next time it will ask you to calibrate it like it would a wheel, calibrate the sensitivity and range of motion for the joy sticks and for the triggers which are your gas and brake. Once calibrate go and assign your buttons. Best i can do for you.

My thumb hurts from having to hold the d-pad to the left. I mean, I know alot about Nascar, but I feel stupid when I play this game because it is like the car won't quit acting like it is on ice, but yet it is tight... i'm a broke SOB so I can't afford a wheel, Just have my X-Box 360 WIRED controller. Getting ready to restart the computer to finish the install of the profiler. I'll let you know. Thanks again.

no problem, did you calibrate it for the joysticks or the dpad for steering, i use the joysticks much more responsive in my mind

I have the NO CD Patch on here, it is linked to a .BAT file, so how do I map that?

I know when i installed windows 7 i had to get an updated version of the pinnacle profiler for 7. Then i just re-imported my config i had made when i had vista. the game it self is where you configure the steering and gas/brake. Everything else you map in the profiler if you choose.
