Game reset

I added a new carset to one of my mods. Instead of deleting them in-game I go to the cars folder and delete all the files and put the new carset in. I restart my game, and it goes to the controller calibration screen as if I had started the game for the first time. And when I go to race, my graphics are all reset (inside the game)

So my question is...why? Why did this happen? It seems kind of random, maybe since I deleted all my car files?

Not to mention, I replaced a 2048 carset with a 1024 resolution carset and I get a fps drop. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Reinstall it. That's what happened to me once.

I've had this happen. It occurs when the car that you last used in the player selection screen is no longer accessible by the game (i.e. when deleted or moved), so it defaults to creating a player file titled "The_Player" (which needs to be calibrated since it's a new file). Just re-select your name again, and it should work fine.
