Thanks for that tutorial C_Warren! I always just selected the path from the text and expanded it,but this way is more sharper than the old way I was using. :)

Building this tutorial was a learning process for me as well since I had never used gimp before to create a number or a stroke for that matter. So I had to play around with the program a bit to figure it out but wasn't too difficult for anyone that's somewhat used to photoshop. I do have to say that I actually prefer gimp's stroke options over those of photoshop. You can't beat Illustrator and PSP's strokes though once you learn them. At any rate I'll post the other programs' stroke tutorials as I get them finished.

as long as they'res path info there you can stroke the path however I'm not finding a way to convert a selection to a path like you can in photoshop (given this really isn't a desirable way to do it either) I keep looking though. It seems like it should be able to do it or atleast there may be a module you could download that enabled this function. Maybe a Layer to Path or even Alpha to Path should work if it has that capability. I continue to mess around w/ gimp and let you know what I find if anything.

quick question. do you have illustrator? you could try using its trace function on your design... sometimes that works sometimes not so much but it's a thought however.

When I'm using a logo that's already drawn, what I do is make a new layer, paste that image(without the background) and than color it all one color(with Pixel Lock on). Then,I go to Selection editor, select that image and click on 'Selection to Path.' Then I would just click on 'Select From Path' on a new layer and expand it by 10-20 pixels to the desired outline and fill it in.
