Good AI mods/adjustments for NR 2003? (I'm new here)

Hello everyone. I just signed up for the forums today after deciding to give NR 2003 another try after a few years away. I bought NASCAR: The Game 2011 for PS3 and have decided to pretty much shelve it until they fix the problems with it. So I had a copy of NR 2003 around so I installed it, got it up to date and downloaded the BullRing mod for 2011 so I'm good there.

My question is about modifying the AI in the game. I know years ago people would edit the "ini" files, tweaking the AI among other things to make the game more realistic, ect. It now seems a lot of those sites have shutdown now, I can't seem to find much on AI changes Online anymore. So if any of you have any ideas/suggestions/links it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Actually, it may be easier to just download tracks with good AI. I know the Safer Barrier Project tracks have real good AI's.

I'm playing with .ini, just for the tracks, on which I want to run a season race...
I'm trying to adjust the .ini in the way, that AI can cause the yellow 2 - 3x per race (30-40% race length)...
And I'm trying to adjust AI speed (on straights, in the corners, acceleration, decel., squeezing point...) so AI is driving more-less comparable with me (so I can be in top 15).... and those values are as 100% of the opponent strength (so then I can easy see my driving progress).
Also I hate, when I can drive comparable with AI e.g. in the corners, but then on the straights they're accelerating like a bat-mobil... Or vice versa, when they're too slow in the corners...
So I attached my .inis, take a look on them, but, please, don't forget to backup yours (or originals)...

And - I almost forgot - the temperature (weather) is always from 68 to 72 F... The wind, clouds, these are like they was.. but I'm lazy to adjust setups when temperature is changing...

Revamped and AKM have improved ini files that you could try. And as with anything backup the original.

Hey thanks a lot! I will definitely try these out and let you know what I think. And yes, I will remember to make backups lol.

eehm, I forgot to mention, that on some tracks are those adjustments done for CTS, on some for GNS.... but shortly and roughly adjustments are like this:
For example:

AI are accelerating too much (compare with you (try to have a good exit from the corner, as possible, and then watch the AI car in front of you (I'm using a Free practice for this)... when AI car escape you easily, you should decrease this parameter:
ai_accel_modifier = x.xx
(or vice-versa... if they're accelerating like a turtle, you must increase this parameter)

Similar with braking:
ai_decel_modifier = x.xx

Adjustment of the AI speed in the corners (higher number = higher AI speed):
ai_grip_modifier = x.xx

Adjustment of the AI speed on the straights (higher number = SMALLER AI speed):
ai_drag_modifier = x.xx

This dangerous hack I'm using, when I want to force AI to make a some mistakes, going away little-bit from ideal racing line, and then they can make some contacts, etc... Playing with this must be in small steps, I'm doing this so - I go above 1.00, e.g. 1.02, then I start a (accelerated) race, and I'm looking , if there are some yellow flags... If there is too much yellows, I'm using smaller number, and vice-versa. If this parameter is acceptable, then I start the race and I'm watching the AI... if they're makeing contacts in every corner, that is not good.... then is necessary to decrease this number and play with other parameters... (ai_drafting_distance= x.xx -> a distance of AI during racing.... the smalller, then more contacts and wrecks...)
ai_line_modifier = x.xx

These are probably roughly most important adjustments...
and well, on Road Courses you can try play with
ai_squeeze_pcnt = x.xx
ai_inverse_slipcurve_k = x.xx
(you can adjust, laical said, how they're going sideways in the corners...)

more explanation you can find somewhere on the web, e.g. Track.ini Tutorial
