For the 2011 F1 carset I'm doing I wanted to make a mip for the tires so they look more like the ones they use today. What would be the best way to start out trying it? Below is a picture of the tires I want to make.

Find a better, bigger picture of what you want, use WinMip2 to make the current tire.mip files into bmp and replace them with the Pirelli's.

You can try this picture if it helps.

That's all you need PR4. Like I said just convert the tire mips that are in the mod now to bmp and edit them (1 for slow, medium and fast paced) for the med and fast ones you'll need to do a radial blur to make it look like there moving.

Here I did this very quickly to show you.

Slow

Medium

Fast

I have these in psd if you'd like them to start out with. You'll need to align them so they won't look lop-sided in game.

If you could shoot me the PSD that'd be nice. What do you mean by align them? Like with the old tire mip that I unpacked? Sorry if I'm coming off stupid on this.

I attached them to this post buddy. And don't be silly questions aren't stupid! You see the mip is a square resolution (kinda like templates, same resolution as a matter of fact) you can have 512x512, 1024x1024 or even 2048x2048 but the tire is a circle so there is a mask that's around the tire that the mod won't map to the tire. So you'll need to have the texture within that spot on all three of the mips. What I do is take the existing mips and use that as a guide to align them.

Alright, I opened up the slow mip and there's two tires together. Do I just place the tire over both places or just one?

Now will it affect the color of the rims of the cars I paint? Like Lotus has yellow rims, would they overcolored by the chrome on the tire I put onto the mip?

No because that's part of the car template.
