I am leaving SRD since they wanna become like NASCAR and pull my download links. Since they won't let me post links to my cars i have decided to leave especially when i have been so active in their community for so long and now i can't even reek the benefit of you all getting my cars that i work hours on. I really don't think its fair for them to pull links to cars you are all requesting from me. Since i am not a member of the staff or paint crew here i am not allowed to put my cars up for download and the only way to get you those cars was through a link. You all know where i am and if you want my future cars check there for them because you won't see them in the showroom here anymore. Hope you all have a great New Year!

..and to the staff.. i posted a comment on all of my cars that i had in the showroom, pretty much saying the same thing. I figured i would help you out a little bit also by telling you that you forgot some of the download links on my earlier cars. :arghh: I am not trying to start trouble but i am sure some of you completely understand why i am "urinated" off.

I'm sorry that you feel this way but it's nothing personal against you, it goes for everyone.
I understand what your saying about the not being able to upload your work here, really I do, but you have to understand Matt, Jason Walz and all the other crewmembers point of view also, take a look back to a few years ago at what happened at MG Motorsports, Keith the owner almost had his website destroyed by some rather uncooth and seedy characters, these people loaded there work with all kinds of nasty little bugs, not only did it get the website, but it got people who downloaded the stuff also. So put yourself in Matt's shoes and then see where you stand on this.

As for the links look at it like this, links can be a dangerous thing also, come on think about it. I understand why he doesn't want links to different websites in the posts, and it has nothing to do with anyone on a personal basis. And competition is not a factor in it either.

These are my opinions only and in no way reflect what Matt or any of the other crew members think or say, I can not speak for them, only for myself.

I am linking to another respectable sim racing site. It shouldn't be a problem at all. I am not nor would i ever send people to a pool of viruses. I also understand not being able to upload and your reasoning which should make the links to respectable sim sites more tolerable. Other sim sites should be ok as you allow us to post links in the threads to other sites for logos or images, but i can't leave a link to a car that i spent hours on? Thats the part of moderating. If someone posts a link to whocaresbumcrap. c om and that site is known junk. pull the link, but NNracing or any other sim racing site that we so frequently go between??
Also when i upload a car and put the link in the thread then i notice a thread posted about this situation shortly after and then my download links are removed, i kinda take it personally. I know i am going to get hazed for this but its also my opinion and i can share it.

i am not using the showroom as a platform for spamming or to pimp out my website. I am not promoting my website. I was promoting the car that i painted and showing people where to get it.

..but its ok to have a banner in your signature that people can click on and be sent to other websites? My banner is blatantly promoting nnracing.com and that i am an administrator. Same thing kinda isnt it?

...and i am not taking this personal. I just don't think its fair that these painters can upload their images but people aren't allowed to be pointed in the right direction to download these cars. Obviously they would have to go to another site to get them since they can't upload them here.

First & foremost, this should have been handled in PM's. Secondly, every site has their own set of rules to protect their best intrests. This rules that you are talking about was put into effect from the standpoint that it was getting to be old when staff members here would post a thread about a ride that they had just completed & was up for download & then certain people would post the same ride & links to their site to get the download. Does that sound right to you? Should we have let that happen & ignore SRD's best intrests. Look at how much we, being the staff members, go to other sites & do that. Very little.

You are taking it personal. You are not being singled out because this rule has been effect for a long time now. If you are proud of a ride that you spent hours working on, post a render of it to get feedback. If you have your site's banner in your sig, people are smart enough to know where to go to find it.


Also, watch when you start to slam SRD & make comparisions.....cause the same can be done to a particular site.
