From Jayski:

Sacks in #88 for JR Motorsports at Daytona: Greg Sacks will return to the driver's seat in a JR Motorsports entry in the July 2nd NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway, kicking off a brand new partnership between JR Motorsports and Grand Touring Vodka. Sacks will drive the #88 Grand Touring Vodka Chevrolet in the Subway Jalapeño 250, joining a JR Motorsports stable that will include Steve Arpin in the #7 Chevrolet and Dale Earnhardt Jr. in a special tribute #3 Wrangler Chevrolet for the Daytona event. Grand Touring Vodka's debut at Daytona begins a two-year sponsorship with JR Motorsports that will feature primary branding on the #88 Chevrolet for 25 Nationwide Series events, 10 of which will come in 2010. Grand Touring Vodka's races this season following Daytona will include O'Reilly Raceway Park, Watkins Glen, Michigan, Richmond, Kansas, California, Texas, Phoenix, and Homestead-Miami. Driver plans for the #88 in those races have not been determined.(JR Motorsports PR)(5-18-2010)

I don't know what to say...didn't see Greg coming back into NASCAR at all.

Sacks is a decent driver, but really Jr.? That's the best driver you can come up with? How about giving someone like James Buescher a one-race deal to get him a job. Come on, you can do better than Greg freakin Sacks.

He was running at the first race I went too, the 2005 Pocono 500. I remembered him pulling into the pits with nothing apparently wrong with the car and I realized three years later he was a start-and-park. Anyway, I wish him luck.

I believe Jr. is doing this for the sponsorship... Sacks' family owns Grand Touring Vodka...Jr will now get a 2 year sponsorship deal....odds are that this was part of the deal considering that the race will be on the 25th anniversary of Sacks' win.

Sponsorship is everything nowadays...and with this deal...Jr. can use it to develop (or attempt to) Arpin.

Wow I had no idea Sacks' family owned that company. Okay this is starting to make sense.

That would be the 15th Anniversary, not 25th... But still, why Sacks? More importantly, where did he come from???:twitcy:

I'm glad to see Sacks is going to be back in major NASCAR racing, he's one of my favorite underdogs.

He was with Yarborough's team (no longer around) in 1998, but he was replaced by Rich Bickle after only 7 races, the only full-time rides he had were in 1984 and 1994, and he was a part-timer for a lot of the 80s and 90s, he didn't really appear too much in the 00s.

I heard a rumor the other week about Jr getting an Alcohol sponsorship for the car so I guess this is the one the rumor was talking about.

When the news first broke my first thought was "Wow he didn't run the NNS race at 'Dega and now he isn't gonna run this one".... But then I remembered he was in the #3 car for this race.

How many drivers is Jr. gonna hire and fire in a season?!

Technically they only fired one, Bires. The others were only contracted to drive a certain number of races.
