how to fix nr2003 reset problem?

every time i try to put in a name other than "the player" in my player info, my nr2003 closes and resets. it resets the name, controls, progress, and everything else. is there a way to fix this???

You might need to try reinstalling it, I've noticed that continued use of NR2k3 slowly corrupts the data, forcing me to reinstall it every once-and-a-while, especially if it had crashed recently.

Are you using Windows 7/Vista, or XP. If it's Windows 7 or Vista, I would re-install like Mark said, and download the Vista/ 7 patch.
