I have been playing nr2003 for about 2 years on my computer and it has run fine at about 20-30 fps (fine for me at least:p) I decided to update the NVIDEA driver on my computer, hoping it would even increase performance. Now ever since then the game is EXTREMELY sluggish and choppy. The game claims that I am getting 30fps but it feels more like 5. (literally) Even the in-game menus are sluggish and choppy. This is the same for all games (even Marble Blast) but that seems to be about it. The rest of the computer almost feels completely fine.
Here are my computer's specs:
32 bit
1 gig of ram (i think)
graphics card is GeForce 6150 LE

I know it may look like my computer cant handle the game, but remember it did for about 2 years.

Any help, thoughts, or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Adam

wow man... thats so weird, look... windows has an option I think its called "system restore"it, restores points that are created before new device drivers, automatic updates, unsigned drivers, and some applications installed. with this option you can go back to any day, lets say a week ago, so windows will delete every program or software installed after that week, and its going to leave your computer just as it was before that, so you have to restore the system a day before you installed the driver and your game will be the same again.. I did this twice and it worked.
here is a link that explains how to restore the system

I hope this solves your problem, let mi know if it does

What is the ForceWare driver version you are using? Anything past 81.47 (I think?) is junk for NR2003.

Thanks for all of the replies. I could not figure out what the problem was so I had to use my friends spare video card which ended up being better than my old one anyway lol.

Sorry to bother you guys any more than I already have but now i have another problem:

My computer's resolution is 1400 by 900 and this chart does not have a number for it:

32mb video card running in 16bit
640x480= 31096832
800x600= 29714432

1280x960= 23724032
1600x1200= 18194432

64mb video card running in 16bit

1280x960= 248774656
1600x1200= 237715456

My graphics are all blurry and i dont know what to put that number at. Sorry guys I am just not very good with computers. These are my specs:

Time of this report: 9/4/2009, 23:13:25

I know that this is a lot but if anyone knows what the number that i need to put in as the TextureSetSize or could figure it out I would be forever grateful haha.

Thanks in advance,
Adam (a frustrated simmer)

1st: laptobs arent for gaming dude!

2nd: if your screen resolution is'nt in the chart just put it in the formula.

I have tried the formula but it never comes out right. I don't know what (BPP) Bits Per Pixel are and I don't know what my video ram is. Is it the same my regular RAM which is 2046MB RAM?

bpp is your color depth, yours is probly 32. and your video ram is how much ram is on the vid. card. you can find out all this information if you:
1. right click on the desktop
2. click display settings. there will be a drop down menu under the word colors and that tells you your BPP
3. click on the advanced settings button
4. under the "Adapter" tab it will show your video card specs.
5. a few lines down it should say "dedicated video memory:" and thats what you use to calculate your video ram.

hope this helps!

Thanks everyone who helped me solve my problems!! Two weeks ago I had a messed up videocard that couldnt play nr2003 at all and was slowing down my computer and now I have a new video card and the best wide screen high res graphics I have ever seen!! I can turn all graphics settings to high and still get 40-60 fps! The coolest part is that due to my friend who gave me the videocard, you guys for helping me get the graphics right, and Sim Racing Design all the paintschemes and high res enhancements, it cost me nothing! Nada! Zip!

Ok I know I know im being an EXTREMELY overdramatic tool... but seriously guys thanks for the help and keep painting them cars! :twitcy:LOL

Thanks,
Adam

Hey, you might not be done yet. I'm glad things have gotten better for you but there are still a few things you can do to really optimize your performance. If you have NR Graphics Tweaker, it will automatically adjust your graphics settings for optimum use. You can get this tool online or I can send it to you (PM). Just make sure your anisotropic filter is set higher than x4 (max 16 I think) or else you get blurry graphics when seen at angles.

Also, defragging and cleaning your system with something like ccleaner (CCleaner - Home) will improve performance for NR2k3 as well as all other programs running on your machine. It also keeps it clean and humming smooth. Good luck!
