From the iRacing forum...

Several iRacers were front and center during yesterday's NASCAR‘s Sprint Cup Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway. Chief among them were Marcos Ambrose and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. who featured through most of the race before falling-out of the top ten in the final laps of the event, which was postponed by Sunday's rain.

Running the distinctive red, white and blue iRacing.com livery on his JTG Daugherty Racing Toyota, Ambrose was a factor most of the afternoon, running in the top ten and even taking the lead for the first time in his Sprint Cup career on Lap 93. But a crash on Lap 174, triggered by eventual race winner Denny Hamlin, dashed Ambrose’s hopes for a second strong finish at Pocono this year.

“I’m not sure what happened there,” said Ambrose, who finished sixth in the June Sprint Cup race at Pocono and was running ninth at the time of the accident. “We were running in the top ten and all of a sudden David Reutimann got turned by 11 (Hamlin) and I had nowhere to go. That pretty much ended our day.”

Although the JTG Daugherty crew effected emergency repairs to the iRacing.com Toyota, Ambrose lost eight laps in the process and finished in thirty fourth place.

Earnhardt was also looking at a strong finish, running fifth with 30 laps remaining. But he brushed the wall several laps later and slipped to a disappointing twenty-eighth place finish. At that, Ambrose and Earnhardt fared better than fellow iRacer Bobby Labonte who crashed hard in Turn One on Lap 180 after being bumped from behind by another iRacing member – David Ragan. Although Labonte escaped injury, his car was severely damaged.

Of the remaining iRacing members, Jimmie Johnson overcame mechanical problems that dropped him two laps off the lead at one point to finish thirteenth while A.J. Allmendinger was seventeenth, Martin Truex, Jr. nineteenth, Ragan twenty-second and Joey Logano was credited with twenty-seventh place.
