I've been running lan races for awhile now and it's been working really well. But the only thing that's bothering me is anyone that joins my lan game (and vice versa) will experience some lag for a brief moment every once in awhile during a race. For example, we where racing at Memphis last night using the latest truck mod (ncts09) and about half way through the race the person that joined my lan game got some lag down the back stretch, then it stopped once they hit the front stretch. Then stayed fine for a few laps, then lagged again later on at a different part of the track.

So is there any way to fix that or is that something I should expect? It's not a big problem really.

If you're only seeing one person doing it, it's their connection, if you're seeing everyone doing it simultaenously, it's your connection.

If for the most part the cars are lag free, then it probably isn't a big deal, but if they start losing connection then you should consider replacing the wire to whatever the other pcs are using, but if it isn't problematic that's unnecessary, at least for now.

Are all the pcs in the same room?

Both laptops are just a feet away when we play wireless. And it's not to much of a problem at the moment.

Ok you mentioned changing wires between pc's, well is playing a lan game through a wire better then wireless?

Theres a setting in your core file under communications that reads

net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip=

This needs to be changed to 0 so it allows lan to run at network speed. This fixed a ton of lag problems for us and not being able to see but about 8 cars ahead at a time. Hope this helps
