ok guys just calm down. It was racing. Racing! Keselowksi, Busch, Hamlin they are all passionate drivers who have one thing on their mind when they strap their helmets on. And that is to win. And they will do whatever it takes. They don't need the fans approval to win.

There's a difference between expressing your opinion, and expressing your opinion while sounding like a drunk guzzling a Bud at 5am leaning against the tailgate of a busted up pickup truck.

The former can be tolerated, the latter will not be. Keep it civil, and keep it abiding by the forum rules, or this will be locked FAST.

Hey guys, I think what we really need to do is be a little more objective when things like this involving our favorite drivers happen. Try to look at it from another perspective. Not just from your blinded point of view.

I agree

On track stuff was racing and even though I don't agree with the retaliation by Hamlin, it's there and it's done with.

What I can't understand is how Hamlin wants to compare the Nationwide drivers to Cup. Brad isn't in Cup and you can't compare his driving to something higher than you should expect from a Nationwide driver. Denny's mad that his cage got rattled under caution and I hope both drivers aren't penalized. Hamlin needs to cool his jets during post race interviews and realize what series he's in.

As for the pit crews....I never got a good angle of it and while I'm sure the drivers had nothing to do with it, both teams are gonna either get fined or points lost. Hamlin had it right when he said Don't come here and fight each other, let the drivers handle it.

I agree tenor, it should be the drivers that hash it out, not the crews. And he should definitely not be pointing out Keselowski's lack of Cup experience as a reason for his retaliation. You said that very well.

Hindsight being 20/20, I should never have started this thread. I was mad when I wrote the initial post. I never meant to upset anybody.

I want to say this and then hopefully we can let this thread die...here is the reason I was/am so frustrated - look at other drivers with similar experience levels - do you see Clint Bowyer doing this stuff? Martin Truex Jr? Kasey Kahne (he's got a little more experience tho)?

I'm sure that the drivers in the garage have been taking notes.

I always thought that was a part of racing. you hit me and I hit you back:twitcy: I don't see anything wrong with what he did.

Well another thing you have to understand in this deal, Gibbs Racing's confidence has skyrocketed lately. For young drivers it isn't easy to shrug off all of the praise. Especially ones with the last names Hamlin & Busch.

Now I agree, the crew members shouldn't have been going at it. But I see where they're coming from. They work too hard to have something like that happen to their cars.

Just curious who your referring to DF28?

I was referring to the tone of the thread at that point, and the foul language, etc. If I'm responding to something specific, I'll usually quote it so there's no wonder what exactly it is I'm referring to.

Now...here's a question for you all, and keep in mind that I've been a NASCAR fan since 1991. I'm not exactly new to this. Why is it that Dale Earnhardt Sr., the master of bumping & roughing people up, the 'Intimidator', etc, is put on such a pedestal, while others are completely trashed, usually by Earnhardt or former Earnhardt fans (i.e. Kyle Busch incident) for basically doing the same thing? Rough driving made Earnhardt famous. So is it really bad driving or isn't it? I've never quite understood the dichotomy here.

Keep in mind that I've been a fan since '86....Earnhardt was not the first to do it, the second to do it, hundredth to do it & I can guarentee you not the last either.

That's true. There has been plenty of rough driving through the years. But there is a line somewhere between rough driving and a dirty driver. Where that line is differs by the person drawing it I suppose.

Well here is the deal. Earnhardt's "aggressive" driving style of bumping & banging in his early years was stemmed from the sense of urgency. Urgency of wanting & having to win & collect that paycheck back then. Also to prove that he belong in the sport....that if a owner would take a chance on him that he could win races for them.

The "aggressive" drivers today that bump & bang people out of their way do it because they have the "I am faster than you so get out of my way....NOW!", "I've been racing for 2-3 years...I know it ALL!" attitude. They have no respect for other drivers or their equipment. If they had to work on their cars like Earnhardt, Petty, Pearson, Morgan Shepard did......they wouldn't do the crap that they do today.
