ARCA driver Steve Arpin is going to drive the #7 Chevy at Talladega, Richmond, and I think Darlington. Jr and Kelley are out of their mind to think Arpin's gonna be better than Bires. He only has two years of ARCA racing under his belt, and we know how much of a fail that series is.

ARCA has produced some good drivers though. Look at Ryan Newman for one. If Arpin has chemistry with the team, there will be results. If not, they'll toss him aside like McFarland, Huffman, and Bires. That's just the cycle of the racing business.

Steve Arpin is a really good driver and a good choice to drive for Earnhardt. And yet, somehow, people are trashing him for not having a lot of experience (Isn't the point of the Nationwide Series for drivers to [i[gain[/i] experience?)

Him winning the ARCA race at Texas with a damaged racecar (Probably easier in ARCA than in other series, but still) just backs that up further. Hopefully some people are sold on him now.

Being sold on Steve Arpin and thinking that it's worth it to give him a chance are two different things though. I'm glad to see him get the chance and think that he'll do well with it, but I won't be sold on him until I actually see what kind of results he gets in that Jr. Motorsports car.

Would you expect anything different from couch racers?

Aprin can wheel a car, he showed that when he was kicking butt in the IMCA Mods. Alway's good to see someone come from a dirt background and get a chance like this.

Poor Kelly Bires :err:

Well Arpin is a good driver too. I still hate it for Kelly though about gettin axed from the 88 ride.....thats just the business side i guess.

I wouldn't say that the lack of experience is my worry. He did pretty well in the ARCA RE/MAX series last year, being 7th in points, having a top 10 in over half the races he was in. Of the six ahead of him in the points, one (Lofton) is vying for ROY in the Truck Series, one (Kligerman) is running the full NNS sched for PCR, and one (F. Kimmel) has won the series nine times. My worry is how fast JR Motorsports takes drivers in and chews 'em out...I hope Arpin gets at least a full-season shot at some point...to show how he can do with a team molded around him like at ESR last year.

Throw him in a Big-Block upright or an Asphalt tour type mod and lets see how good of a wheelman he really is.

Here is the thing, when he gets released way before the end of the season he can kiss his NASCAR career goodbye, becuase he'll end up as nothing but a "Fill-in" or "Back-up" driver similar to Cassil, Wimmer, Hamilton Jr, etc etc.....

Last year he raced in ARCA for the Factory Toyota team.... and he did absolutely nothing, this season he got lucky twice and know will forever be known as "David Gilliland 2.0"

Simply your opinion. And we all know what opinions are like? ;)

Only time will tell.

If Steve fails, Jr. Motorsports will forever be known as "The Revolving Door".

I always thought that title was reserved for Robby Gordon Motorsports in both the Manufacture & Crew Chief department.

I'm waiting for Robby to announce he's forming an alliance with Studebaker sometime late this year.

Steven, we both know that anyone can run well at Talladega. Kyle Krisiloff had a top 5, enough said. As far as Arpin goes I think as long as he is given a chance he can do well. I was skeptical at first last year since he had barely any pavement experience but he is showing improvement every week.
