Gordon's back surgery is supposed to be in January. He needed to wait until the offseason...

And I doubt he will retire soon. Dale went 22 years..and I bet if he weren't in that depressing crash, he'd still be racing now...Gordon has that same fire brewing.

I've always put #3 and #24 side by side. A lot of people pitted them against each other, but I always had mad props for both of them. I want each to have 6 champion titles.

In case anyone's wondering why this says 6 instead of seven, it's because one of the championships (1990) should have gone to Mark Martin, because the officials (after the penalty was "official") realized and admitted that there wasn't anything illegal about one of the cars he won in(which cost him the championship), but said it was too late to recall it, and Jeff would be a 6-time champion if the old system was still used (95,97,98,01,04,07).

Besides, the Chase has made Gordon look worse than he really is, in 2007 he had 30 top10s, more than in any of his "official" championships, and 21 top5s, more than in any of his champioships other than 1997 and 1998.

To even be talking about this is pretty ridiculous imo.

Gordon is still the best driver in this decade, and this coming from a non Gordon fan. I don't care about Jimmie Johnson and all his little titles, Jeff Gordon still has it. He had the most top 10's this year, and was in the top 3 for most top 5's. So he didn't win much, he's still as consistent as ever and people seem to think unless he doesn't win 20 times a year that he's washed up and should retire.

Do we not remember 2007? 6 wins, 21 top 5's and 30 top 10's (Most in his career) And I mean heck, besides 07 Jeff's average finish this year was 10.2 That's his best since 1998. The man still has it and I see no reason why he should hang it up yet when he is still one of the top 5 drivers in the sport. Easily.

He'll win more then once next season. Just watch.

well to be honest and i think whoever makes this remark is ridiculous, "johnson is now a legend, he's now up there with gordon, petty and earnhardt" anything in that respect is ridiculous simply b/c yeah the man has 4 championships but let me know when he has 76, 82 or even 200 wins then we can start talking b/c he has 47 wins yeah but nowhere close to being a so-called "legend" so to relate this comment to the story at hand gordon is still the best driver on the track still.

Not a chance. Gordon could race well into the 2020's. He still has a good chance of winning 7+ championships in his career.
