ok, i was wondering why it was merged in here.

Well seeing as we already had a general race discussion thread, a thread regarding one of the race's storylines was superfluous. Nothing wrong with discussing Carl, but we make these catch-all threads each week just so we don't have 9 different race threads talking about 9 different race storylines. Eases the clutter. :)

Toyota's 1st Cup win

Well it happened ever quicker than I thought, only the 4th race in.

And a 1-2 finish to boot...

Congrats Toyota.

Well I knew it was going to be a Gibbs car, I thought Tony would have been the one but he did come in second.

Very impressive win for Kyle. Though, he was pushing it a little too hard at the end. There was no need for him to be all over Jarrett's bumper on the last lap. He could have taken himself out.

I'm pumped about how well Jr's going!

I sure hope Jr. can keep this momentum up!
He's the strongest of the Hendrick cars so far.

A couple of comments on the race today.

-Carl Edwards had what looks like 3 in a row if not for engine problems.

-Congrats to Kyle on the win, he had a strong car and deserved the Win.:D

-Poor choice of topics on Stewart’s part during the post race interview. I thought it in poor taste to whine about the tires and not even mention Joe Gibbs 1-2 finish or his teammates Win! (should I be surprised?):(

-Also glad to see JR remaining consistent, just wish he would get that monkey off his back and WIN one!:D

-As for Kyle getting up on Dale, get that dang brown truck out of the friggin way for God’s sake! Why hold up the leader? :arghh:

Exactly that was really weird for jarret to be racing him so hard. Still is awesome that kyle won. really happy to see Gordon finish the race just a stroke of bad luck on every other race so far. One thing that has left me wondering is WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO JIMMIE JOHNSON?? what a difference from last year

I don't think it was DJ racing Kyle hard, as much as it was Kyle wanting to win by the biggest margin possible. He did not have to even pass Jarrett with the lead he had built up. He could have cruised the last few laps.

With the JG/JJ thing that you refered to Flatout24, I think, unfortunately, that this is what we will get this year. They won't be untouchable. Hendrick bringing Jr. in really threw off the chemistry of that race team. Anyone else wondering why Jr.'s running way better than the other guys? Hendrick is trying to show that he can make Jr. win, and Jeff, Jimmie and Casey are suffering from it, taking a step down from where they were last year. Meanwhile, Gibbs is eating it up because Kyle, Denny and Tony make for great chemistry, and Gibbs isn't focusing on any one of them.

I'm not sure how you can say that, JJ & Gordon are not even in the same shop as Jr. and Mears.

Also about the chemistry...both Johnson & Gordon have the exact same crew members as last year and the core Hendrick people are still in place from last year.

Now I'd be last person to defend Gordon, but he's run well so far aside from a broken part at Daytona and a crash at Vegas he's gotten two top 5s.

As far as Johnson goes, I'm not sure what their problem is.

These things run in cycles-remember how dominate DEI was at restrictor plate tracks-then Hendrick and RCR got caught up. Now look how good those Ford COTs look compared to last year.

I'm thinking its not that Hendrick is in a hole but rather everyone else is getting caught up with their COT programs.

DE3, I'm not talking about the chemistry inside the 24 and 48 teams, but with Hendrick as a whole. It just seems like the 88 is getting so much better equipment than the 24/48, this season. I realize Jeff's running well, but its just odd not seeing him and Jimmie running away with it every week.

I just think, and I'd hate to think that its true after all that Jeff and Jimmie have done for him, that Rick may be throwing a little more towards the 88's effort.

That is one of the most absurd statements I have ever read & I am not even going to respond to it by point out some valid points.
