I have to say maybe the tire threw off the 48 this weekend. Maybe JR is better than I thought. But I highly doubt Hendrick isn't giving the 5, 24, and 48 lesser equipment.
I think the problem with johnson is that Knaus had the whole coil-binding thing work out at these tracks, but with the bump stops taking that out of the equation knaus is looking for something else and hasn't found it yet, but I'll bet they find their way back to the top once we hit some of the tracks the COT's been on before.
As for the tires, I like seeing them slip and slide, but if it means that these guys can't run side-by-side there needs to be a change, I do think Stewart was being a bit harsh...maybe he should put his money where his mouth is and make his own tire. I think Goodyear is doing things to the best of their abilities, which are not where they need to be yet. They'll get there..they have in the past.
I enjoy seeing Jr. run good (I've been an Earnhardt fan all my life), and in total it's good to see people other than Gordon, Johnson and Stewart getting attention and winning races. But my bone to pick is this...when the leader is 6 seconds ahead, talk about somebody who is actually doing something other than cruising. Bobby Labonte was in the top 10 nearly the entire race and got mentioned once with 30 laps to go...and he's 14th in points and no one cares. The Petty team has this thing pointed towards victory Lane this year, and I surely hope to see them get there.
Now that a Toilet has won, can we shut up about them (this means DW) and get back to racing?
I seriously doubt that the #88 is able to walk in the #24/#48 shop & cherry pick it along with #5 equipment.
Gordon's "achilles hill" so to speak has been the same thing the last 2-3 seasons. He starts off good but ends up losing the handle of the car as the race goes on. Or gets caught up in accident which has happened this season. I'm sure he would concur if the question was brought up in an interview if it hasn't already.
Johnson can't have a dream season every year. He isn't going to win 10 races this year & I would be suprised if he won more than 5 with how the competetion is now. Knaus has said that they are missing something at some tracks this year & I highly doubt it is because Junior is getting better equipment. He too has been caught up in a wreck this season.
I like Casey Mears, I liked him when he drove with Ganassi but come on now, do any of us think he is going to be in the Top 5 of the standings?
Lets not forget either that Ford has made huge gains in the COT program, or I should say Roush has. Dodge has made huge gains as well. Toyota has a top tier team now. So competetion is going to be at it's highest this season. Do not expect Gordon & Johnson to walk away with it.
But this is what is getting me. For everyone that has said that the #24's equipment & the #48's equipment is the same as the #5's & #25's & now #88's are you now saying that statement has been false all along by the #88 is getting the best equipment? Come on now.
