I saw the news, This is like what? The 3rd Sprint Car death this year?
This is getting ridiculous now. They need to do something about the Tracks and Cars now before someone else gets killed.
Yeah it's sad to hear. But what can they do about the cars and tracks. Almost nothing unless they build a new car from the ground up with more protection for the driver and somehow lessen the possibility of flipping violently on the dirt.
Unlike most people on this board, I've had the honor of knowing Kramer Williamson since I started attending sprint car races in 2006 and working on URC cars since 2007. He did everything his own way and unlike a lot of us who buy chassis from other manufacturers, like a true racer he made his own "Kramer Kraft" chassis.
URC sprint car racing will definitely be different for me, both as a fan and as a crew member, not seeing the pink #73 car on the track. My heart just breaks for his wife Sharon and his children, Kurt and Felecia.
Also as many of you know I paint Whelen Modifieds and I am going to put aside my current projects and create a car dedicated to The Pink Panther. All I need is for one to create me a #73 (slanted both ways) as well as the lettering for the "Kramer Kraft" logo. I greatly appreciate anyone's help in getting these graphics for me as I want to honor my friend and one of the fiercest competitors I have ever seen in sprint car racing.
Horrible news for the URC guys. From my personal experience with the Lucas Oil ESS Series, I know how close all of these drivers are to each other, and I know the entire URC family is hurting. I hope for the best for the Williamsons and all of the series.
Very sad to hear to everyone involved. One thing I hate is how the media doesn't know the difference between a Sprint car and Sprint Cup, but when someone dies they act like the know it all. I was just at that track a few weeks ago and saw great racing. Everyone is saying about how dirt tracks don't take safety serious for either driver or spectators, but we all have to realize these tracks are just trying to survive with all the taxes now and neighbors complaining after moving next to a track that has been there for 100 years. Lincoln hasn't had a death since 1975. Unfortunately this is a bad year for racing. Whether it is a local track or one of, if not the most known race in the world all have had a death. It is bound to happen at some point. Any time you strap into any vehicle, be it for a race or to get to the grocery store there is the possibility of injury or death, its a fact of live. As much as we don't like to think about it, it is something that can happen to anyone of us. Truth is, racing has to go on, The Pink Panther would want it as would LefTurn and every driver that has died or been injured. Hopefully none of you take this the wrong way, but it is my opinion and I feel some others will agree.
