Instead of using parallels, just use bootcamp to install Windows XP natively.

Load the program within Parallels just as you would on a PC.
Boot Camp is not yet patched for Snow Leopard (as far as I know) and will not work with wireless devices (i.e. keyboards and mice).
The native Mac version of nr2003 (1.2.8) can be purchased used (it's inexpensive and "n0-CD" out of the box); it runs like a champ on my Intel duel-core MacPro.

I successfully loaded and run nr2003 (semi-native Mac code) on my MacPro. I use a Black MOMO but am upgrading to a G25. The only real problem is using the "Nascar03 Config" utility (which is similar to the Logitech "Profiler" but not nearly as user friendly). As I have posted elsewhere, the darned thing is flakey. Trial and error was the only way I got the sucker configured. Good thing is that by not running the XP version in a VM (e.g. Parallels), I can use the full power of my Mac. I have not experienced a single computer crash. Knowing something about Unix internals is helpful.

One thing I ought to add is that if you're using a USB wheel (like the MOMO or the G25/27), you will need to plug in the USB device *after* you launch Parallels (and allow Parallels to claim exclusive ownership of the USB device it has detected); otherwise, the Logitech Profiler will not find the wheel/pedal set. Only down side to this is that OS X will not recognize the USB device until Parallels releases it. Means you can't play nr2003 (XP) and nr2003 (Mac) in different "Spaces" simultaneously. I'm working on a Unix workaround for this. Dare you to ask why I'd want to run two races simultaneously ;-)

Anyone ever run NR2003 on Linux?
I have read that some have (don't have the links to the posts, which appear on another user group). Using the FreeBSD (Mac) distribution (which is essentially "freeware"), I got it going on Solaris 10 (in the Parallels VM). The challenges are 1) getting the OS to recognize the USB wheel (not hard--there are *nix freeware programs out there that do that), 2) get the program running on the CDE (Solaris) or KDE (Linux), which presupposes getting the libraries and dependencies right. You can "strings" the excitable, which will give you an idea what the program's looking for. I'll give it a shot with Debian.
