As I get older, athlete deaths keep hitting me more and more. The kid was 27, and was from I've heard, an stand up ballplayer on and off the field. I'm going to be 27 in four months. Gone far too soon.

You can't script it better than this. Angels toss a combined no-hitter in the first game back at home since Tyler Skaggs passing. The entire team wearing 45, scored 7 in the first, combined for 13 runs on 13 hits, and Mike Trout hits a 454ft Homer in the first which if added up totals 13.

Skaggs would have turned 28 on 7/13

    I demand a 30 for 30. It's bigger than Baseball.

Here's where I stand on this Reds/Pirates stuff.

The issue was over and done with on April 7th, Archer brushed Dietrich's back, benches cleared, that should have done it.

Dietrich continues to pimp homeruns against the Pirates, which he should be allowed to, he's a ML Ballplayer, it's within his rights. Pirates announcer says that Dietrich's grandfather is "rolling in his grave" which was over the line, and completely unnecessary. This is in May.

This brings us to last night where a guy who was just activated after serving a 2-game internal suspension for conduct unbecoming, who has been out for most of the season, thinks he needs to go and "stick up for his teammates" and go high and tight on Dietrich (it was high, not so much in tight anyway)? What a load of horse manure. This was over and done iwth, and here we go again, we're back at it again. The bickering should have ended with Jared Hughes plunking Marte in the Top of the 9th. That should have been it. Amir Garrett took it upon himself to enter the game, tell Josh Bell to go f*** himself, and then he gets crap from the Pirates bench so it's within his right to charge the dugout? Then we have loose cannon manager David Bell (already ejected mind you), enter the field of play when the benches clear, and run across the field to shove Clint Hurdle to prove a point (that statistics back him up on that he's wrong about)?

Don't get me wrong, the Pirates poked the bear last night, but the Reds not only evened the score, they crossed the line too, Kela deserves his suspension, and the one that is doled out to Hurdle is well received as well. But to have a manager re-enter the field of play after being ejected, and to have a pitcher incite a fight with the entire bench is completely, and unequivocally, over the line.

The crazy thing is these two are currently playing, and BELL IS STILL MANAGING THIS GAME.

    Baseball is weird sometimes.

Bell had a good point that Hurdle encourages headhunting. (I've seen it first hand when they decided to hit Segura and Ahmed in the head against my D-backs, which was completely intentional) Still I do think he was wrong in coming out of the clubhouse to go after Hurdle.

The entire Pirates organization from top to bottom is an embarrassment. Blow the entire thing up, new GM, new coaches, new players, new everything. I'm so sick and tired of the bullshit mediocrity Nutting tries to pull off because his ski resort is failing.

My favorite part about this was the 3rd piece to the Archer deal last year, Shane Baz, came out today and mentioned on an MiLB article that he's really enjoyed the way the Rays organization is having him pitch according to analytics. It was like a breath of fresh air.

I guess he didn't like learning to be a sinkerballer in the Pirates organization. Who could blame him?

    This team started off 13-2.

Sad news from earlier today, Tyler Skaggs' cause of death was revealed. He passed away from an accidental overdose of drugs and alcohol.

He passed away due to choking on vomit as a result of the use of Fentanyl, oxycodone, and alcohol. Nothing was ever said about an overdose, unless I’ve missed that.

I saw on EPSN that the article said overdose, they've since changed the article name so my apologies if it was incorrect

Oddly enough, I passed by his State Police escort on the way to work today. He lives (lived I guess now) right next door to my office, and I remember looking at the State Trooper Cars and thinking they seemed out of place. I gave up on defending them. There's nothing to defend, but I'm also going to continue rooting for the team that wears black and gold.

I'm not rooting for the Pirates until Nutting leaves. The shit he's pulled with the city and the fans is inexcusable and I'm doing my part to run him out of town.

    THAT. JUST. HAPPENED.

What a comeback, what a game. Nats beat the Brewers 4-3 with a two out, three run 8th inning rally, to advance to the NLDS. I love this team.

Well, my Brewers are out, but I've still got my fave team and my 3rd fave team, the A's and the Astros, left.
