I have Watkins Glen 2k10, not the boot version, but the normal version. I'm updating it to 2011, and I've changed the curbing.mip texture, but the rumble strips hardly "rumble" when I drive over them. The noise is very faint, and the car does not virbrate like it should. I have noticed that Road America HR has a very nice feel to their curbs, so is there an easy way to make the rumble strips at Watkins Glen just a little more violent? And way to make the rumbling sound louder?

Sorry about all the rumble strip questions, they're never addressed anywhere else on the internet...

to do so, you will need to edit the ptf, Most likely all that needs to be added is some new bumpmapping but either way you should seek permission before making such edits.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a program that can open .ptfs, or can WinMip 2 do it? I believe I can work the bump map, but I will need some walking through. Should I contact the creator even if I am not releasing the track as an addon?

You need Sandbox, its in the tool kit from the pits.us

Note it does not run well in Vista and 7.

I didn't get started early enough in editing NR2003, so I missed out on some of the early discoveries. I been "running searches" for years trying to get any information I could on "bumpmapping" as it relates to track bumps, not 3do's.
This is the only useable info I've ever come across. Sandbox_Bumpmapping

Great, thanks a ton dude, it WORKED! Now that I've gotton them to vibrate a bit more, do you have any ideas about amplifying the noise?

First, max out the "track surface" volume in "options/ sound tab".
Beyond that, you could try and make a louder rumble.wav file, and then drop that in the sound folder. [Specific properties for the wav file are required in order for it to work (or even allow the game to load.]

If you are using it for your own personal use there is no need to contact the creator. What you do with such things for your own personal use is your own business. You should contact the track creator if you plan to use his/her track as a base and plan to release it to the public.

Okay thanks, that's what I thought!
