Kudos to the guy who thought of this one.
Wood Bros Racing are the ones who first approached NASCAR about this. Not sure who within the team came up with the idea but they (according to what I've seen online) are the ones that brought the idea to NASCARs attention.

Personally I like it, though I would rather see the passenger side manufacture logo replaced with the car number (instead of having the number on the bumper)

Not a surprise that Woods thought of this, them and Ford are tight.

It's not that it's a bad idea, but why have two of the same logo there. I like the idea of having the car number or team logo on one side.

It'd be really cool if NASCAR allowed teams to put small decals on the rear window of event logos that they've won. Like have a 2 inch sticker that says 2012 Daytona 500 on Matt Kenseth's car. I don't see this happening since it has nothing to do with manufacture identities, and that seems to be what NASCAR's pushing for.

No but NASCAR could have event stickers, similar to rally teams and football patches.

Remember they did this at Suzuka 96 when Elmo died, everyone carried a #64 on their car that race

So for the big races, have a special sticker on the car (i.e. Daytona 500, Darlington, Dega, roadies)

No, but they have done this before with the banners and stickers, and with the windshield banner they are moving toward what they do in touring car racing (with the manufacturer logo on the banner), and making NASCAR look more like other series.

Plus, N'Wide has had banner adverts on the cars since what, 09? 10?

And the Trucks since the series started back in 95.

NASCAR is not other series. And it doesn't have to be.

No it doesn't have to be. People are just saying it's not a big deal now that there will be some activity there, and it's not.

I'm amazed how caught up people are getting with these added logos on the windshield banner. Have you not noticed how the entire car is a rolling sponsor billboard? How there are giant logos almost everywhere? And you're getting caught up on two little manufacturer logos on the windshield banner? Really? :-/

Dang straight!

Most other series run cars that look like their production counterparts so therefore NASCAR should only run non-descript boxes that don't look like any real car.

Most other oval based series run spoilers & airdams therefore NASCAR should put wings & splitters on their vehicles.

Most other oval based series with multi-person cabins the drivers sit in the front half of the cabin on either the left or right side, so NASCAR should mandate that their drivers sit against the rear firewall in the center of the cabin area.

Most other racing series use some form of car number for identification so NASCAR Should mandate instead that the teams use shapes with atleast 15 sides.

Most other major racing series use a field of mostly male drivers who speak English, therefore NASCAR should only allow females & transexuals to race and only if they speak Qatabanian.

Most other major racing series broadcast their races on TV, radio and have some sort of internet presence. So naturally NASCAR should only allow coverage of their races via Vedic Sanskrit text carved in Diamonds.

The Dodecahedron Budweiser Chevrolet is being followed closely by the hexadecagon 3M Ford!

There are a lot of new and casual fans watching who arent as familiar with cars. In fact, there are plenty of people who could look at a car sitting in a parking lot and not be able to identify it without seeing the manufacturer name or logo somewhere on it.

The whole point of putting a name banner on the windshield is for those who arent as familiar. Since it serves the purpose of informing them of whos driving the car, might as well inform them of the manufacturer as well.

Well put. New viewers don't know the cars or drivers.
