my two cents i might as well, right.

if i racing wants my money there gonna haveta make somethign i can race offline and be able to make my own cars. this is the biggest draw to nr2003 for me and well the one time cost isn't all to bad if your lucky. there needs to be a console vversion that dosen't suck eggs. i do get tired of driving intrepids on my ps3.....lol. i still think nr2003 still has some air in it and i for one will go down with the ship even if i wanna be on the other on.

i think iracing is really great but the price says no to me and stops me dead in my tracks it's too much and again if i wanna go real racing i'll save the money i could dump into iracing and aim it towards a monte carlo and go hobby stock racing. iracing will be bigger than nr2003 if it's not already but there are new guys coming into nr2003 as well

That's a good insight Bobby.

My feeling is this, $25 for the COT and then each track is what $15-25? The monthly costs are there for the sole purpose of keeping the servers the best in the business. I mean you don't have to have a "disposable" income to enjoy iRacing. If any of you drink or smoke, I'm pretty sure you spend more money a month on that than you would iRacing.

iRacing will feature consistent updates and add-ons. In the future I'm sure a paintshop will open, and I hope they approve some of the schemes before you are allowed to race them. As I don't want to ride around the track looking at porn. (A huge reason I never raced Forza online). I'm excited for the people at iRacing, and excited for stock car sim fans...this could be huge.

*Crossing my fingers that they will release a "NASCAR" Pack next year.*

NASCAR and iRacing don't care about those that will be stubborn to NR2003. They've just opened up their platform to thousands of new racers. It's going to become the new gold standard for all oval sim racers. As a result of that, don't expect their subscription prices to go down.

There will be just a few hundred left using the outdated NR2003 sim. This spells the end of everything we've grown to love about online oval racing in the past fifteen years. The leagues, the painting community, etc. Sim racing is becoming more and more simulated.

There are going to be those who say, "Bah! John Henry and FIRST aren't getting my money!" and "NR2003 lives on!" but it won't make a difference. Eventually they'll make the switch, regardless of how much they say otherwise right now. For those of you complaining about testing with AI cars, go buy NASCAR '09 for Xbox; after all, you're looking for a video game, not a sim.

I really want to get into the iRacing world, but I need a job to get money first:frown:

Once that occurs, I'll be in iRacing and Nr2003 will be a thing of the past

I agree Snoopy, I'd have to ditch the girlfriend, netflix, going to the September NH Chase race, and probably gas for my real car to pay for iracing. Not to mention I wouldn't really want to stick to a schedule or anything, just race a little while here and there when I have some free time.
Also, the painting aspect I find generally to be more fun than getting run over by an AI Kyle Busch...........

Plus this.

I guess I am a strong (and I mean STRONG) advocate for the small people, those who get screwed by 'The Man' everyday. Those who cannot pay outrageous fees to play something that they could (more than likely) find for free.... SOMEWHERE. I'm not going to say where, because I'm not in the mood to be thrown out of SRD. In fact, I shouldn't even have said that. D'oh!

Now that you've listened to my rambling, continue.

I don't really play nr03 anymore but it will be something I'll come back to in the future when I have time. I think nr03 will always have players, even though we seem to lose some continually.I'll monitor how this partnership and potential product turns out later on.

Once you try iRacing, you'll realize NR2003 is just a game as much as EASports' titles.

If there is no offline version of iRacing, NR2003 will still have a pretty huge base of people.

This announcement really only serves to split the NR2003 online community from the offline community. Offline racers, such as myself, will remain highly interested in keeping NR2003 up to date unless iRacing creates an offline version of itself with all the uber-realistic bells & whistles it claims to have. (Of course doing that would be creating an updated NR2003, which is really what all of us truly want.)

That's the point I've been trying to get at. Thank you for finally summarizing it for me.

N2003 is basically on life support at this time... all you guys are doing is basically providing CPR to it.

Why ride a mountain bike if you have a perfectly good tricycle?

Why spend $60,000 on a Hummer when all you're doing is traveling on the same roads as everyone else, including those still driving '98 Tauruses? It boils down to personal preference, and the means with which you can live.

The people who want to pay the money, race online, and do what iRacing claims it can do will want it. Other people who have no real interest, or means to race online (wheel, computer system, etc), will keep up with NR2003 unless given something better. If iRacing chooses not to produce this product along with all their online racing stuff, then the split I mentioned will happen.

Offline racers will become an endangered species, however. Our interests is what will be put on life support.

Is it just me, or are people making iRacing sound like it costs an arm and a leg? Good lord...$13/mo is crap. My unlimited text plan on the phone costs more than that lol. Too many people are saying the grapes are sour when they haven't even tasted them.

Let me add another analogy...driving a 98 Taurus was fun, will be fun...but driving a Hummer would just be BAD@$$!!!

There's my analogy addition to the thread lol.
