I'm a few races into my championship save and so far, so good, but I find Atlanta to be a mighty struggle. The AI cars don't have to slow down in the turns while my car loses about 20 mp/h and I've got no idea what is going on. This is the fourth race of the season, everything worked well in the first three races (3x top 10 finish) but now it's suddenly like my car has 100 hp less than the rest of the pack.

I'm not an expert on setups in this game so if someone could provide me with maybe a few tips or a setup download I'd be more than happy.

On a sidenote, I'm using the 2013 Gen6 mod along with the 2003 season schedule ingame (haven't downloaded addon tracks just yet) - could this be the problem?

Edit: And the problem persists - next race (I was around 8 mp/h per lap slower than the AI at Atlanta - after leading most of the previous race o_O) at Darlington, AI once again is 5-6 mp/h faster per lap. What started out as a promising championship game has become virtually unplayable and I have no idea what suddenly changed. Adaptive AI is off on a sidenote.

Edit 2: It's a problem throughout the game it seems - I tried the original data, the 2012 BR mod and the 2013 one - same deal on the same tracks. While I'm quite faster at Rockingham or Daytona, I can't keep up at Atlanta or Darlington and the interesting part is, it doesn't matter what I set the AI to. For testing this out, I set the AI to 70% - they STILL did 176,xxx laps at Atlanta just like they did when they were set 10% higher. Is there anything I can do about this?

Aaaand ... third and final edit: Turns out you can't load any setups except arcade when you're playing arcade - but that's what I'm forced to do with this laptop, can't use my wheel so I play with the 360 controller. I tried but it's completely impossible to play simulation with a pad - so I'm back to square one >_<...

... Bump ...

No one has an answer for this? I meanwhile started using NRatings and I'm back to the original 2003 cup data but the problem is still there - the AI can go flat out through the turns in Atlanta and judging by the replay speed display go around 165-170 through the turns.

That's the speed I enter the turns in, but I have to ofc steer into the corner and that loses me almost 20 mp/h. If I try to go through the turn more smoothly I end up in the wall.

Can I use NRatings mid-season to reduce AI strength? Because try as I might, I have no clue what is going on here especially when comparing it to the first three races of the 2003 schedule where everything is just as it should be. Or does anybody have any magic setup suggestions? I sure hope for one or the other because as it is, this is gamebreakingly frustrating.

I'm not an expert on this BUT in the past I had a similar problem where I was competitive at most tracks BUT was getting blown away at others in Championship. I found that my problem was mostly due to AI strength percentage SO since that time I've been running my " seasons " in race now and using Score4 to calculate the points that way I can switch the AI strength percentage between tracks after running a short test race to figure out a percentage in-between 95 - 100% to at-least be competitive.

I've also been working with the track.ini file to adjust the AI's to match or be closer to my skill level. I've tweaked the ai_grip at a number of tracks slightly to slow them down or speed them up, ai_qualifying to make them better because I was qualifying on pole quite often along with tire wear at some tracks, AI tire wear among other things.

I use this site to help me make those adjustments, hope it helps N2K3 Page keep in mind to make small adjustments and test it out in a short race to not totally butcher the AI's and run away with the races.

Wow, this is immensely helpful indeed! Can I adjust the AI in midseason in a championship too or is that stored within the save file? Because while Score4 sounds reasonable to use for how you do it, it also sounds a little tedious, no? Sure, if push comes to shove that's how I'll do it though.

Edit: Yes, it certainly works for an ongoing championship! Man, you have no idea how grateful I am - thank you very much for that info!

Not a problem! I was dealing with similar issues last year or two years ago and it was getting to the point where playing the game was not fun, posted about possible solutions and using suggestions from users post allowed me to by pass my problems by editing stuff in the track.ini with the information from that site I posted and things slowly got better in terms or competitive racing at all types of tracks.

It does become a pain at times when you can't hit the settings the way you want and need to go back and forth between testing in-game and the track.ini for adjustments BUT after all the work when you do nail the adjustments to make the races at different tracks more competitive towards your skill level it's very well worth it and makes this game even more enjoyable then it already is.

Anyways! I'm happy this information was useful to you and helped you get around the problems you had and possibly even future problems.

-Real speed in all tracks, for player and A.I. (racing-reference.info)
-Real A.I. strategies
-Real weather, wind and temperature (windfinder.com) (weather.com)
-Amout of A.I. fuel will be the same as yours
