As some of you may already know, I have sent a couple of my paint schemes to teams like Hendrick Motorsports and Penske Racing... but have been rejected on both accounts due to one reason or another.

I was wondering the other day. How do some of you, who have gotten schemes on the track, submit them to companies or sponsors? Do you do it through the team website, or Twitter, or through some other way? I really want to see at least one scheme on the track in the next 3 years and I want to make a living through this if it possible to do so.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. The Penske scheme is attached.

I think, I forgot who but they made a fictional #18 NOS NNS Car for Kyle Busch.

That car, I think JGR Saw it on the guy's video that he had the car in and made it. Not a lot of people have got there scheme on Real life cars, I might be wrong. Also when making a fictional that you want on track, I think its also best to use a sponsor that the team has.

The reason why they reject is because you aren't in person. They have to be really impressed to put on the scheme on car. Try to get contact in person.

I believe Dan Nisbet created the NOS car, so you could ask him. You could send the scheme to the teams or drivers on Twitter as well.

Yes Dan Nisbet! That's the guy, Like Burton said, Twitter is a great source to post your cars, especially drivers.

That's what I did with the 2. I noticed that right away before I got done the whole thing and realized afterwords XD

Also I have used Twitter for the 2, 22, and 48 but I got nothing back from em' after 2-3 months. I'll keep trying though.

Same things, I've sent cars to Hamlin, Cassill, TBR and BKR. Nothing back at all. They probably get hundreds of those a week.

Miller genuine draft is a sponsor of the #2? I thought it was only Miller Lite?

I'm gonna go on a limb here, and you can call it b.s. if you want. But here goes:

It is the sponsors, and not the teams themselves, that have the control to what goes onto a car. Yes, the teams probably help in designing a scheme, but it ultimately the sponsor's decision as to what represents their product on the track. As in your case, if Miller does not want to spend their sponsorship money marketing MGD, you're not going to see a black MGD car on the track. The sponsors control the paintschemes.

Dan Nisbet made that NOS car as a senior college project (I've seen the final video he produced, good stuff.) He not only designed the car, but he came up with a complete marketing package. That included swag, souvenirs trailers, and trackside marketing. Most importantly though, I believe he was in direct contact with NOS as he worked on the project. So once they chose to sponsor Kyle Busch, they had a complete marketing package ready to go. He networked with the right people.

So long story short, market your schemes directly to the sponsors, and get yourself in contact with the right people.

I remember a few years back, Tucknut got a paint scheme into a truck race, and a trip to the race through a contest with Northern Tool and Roush Racing. If I had to guess, I'd say contact the marketing dept's of some sponsors you've designed cars for. That's probably gonna get you further than the race teams themselves. I can only imagine how many fan-submitted car drawings some of the teams get..

Huh, never accord to me that the sponsors have a say... should have thought of that sooner XD

Well, I'm gonna start applying for jobs with the teams and see get in touch with the sponsors... and I just remembered, I have Bobby Gerhart's personal phone number. I might give him a call and see if he wants to see some of my work.

Hopefully this works out in the long run but I won't get my hopes up.

I've heard the horror stories of trying to get a paint scheme on track, there are two ways to do it from what I've heard,
1 - get lucky, win a contest, know a guy (who may know a guy), that stuff.
2 - work your a$$ off for months.
Needless to say, I have no interest in getting a paint scheme on track unless there is some kind of contest.
