I've been making gear set changes by feel but want to know some specific info

What is the engine torque curve of the PTA physics
Is it flat, does it peak etc, is it flat till redline or drops off before . . .?
Any technical data out there?

What should the rpms drop down to when up shifting to take advantage of the engine curve
Were is the power band in the PTA physics

Thanks

Found the engine specs here: N2k3 Engine/Drive Train/Tire Specs
However the trans-am and the tptcc don't have the same specs
These both use the PTA physics so . . . ?

in the tptcc spec the max torque is 5875 and peak at 7750
so about a 2000 rpm power band range to set gearing for shift points towards max acceleration
depending on top speed and gearing adjustments for cornering

Am I thinking correctly here?

For me the TPTCC and Trans Am have thew same physics...

Thanks, I'm aware the physics are the same
Just that the link above has different specs between them and one of them must be incorrect

They appear to be the same but there is at least one difference, PTA can run a lower final gear than TPTCC without blowing up the engine. TPTCC needs one or two clicks higher final gear than PTA.

So how did TheUSPits make the mod to do that, I thought you can't edit car physics?

I used to swap back and forth while I was developing ai, and I would often blow engines in TPTCC when I used a setup that I had dialed in while using PTA. It's not just the final gear, it's any gear where you're running it close to the maximum rpm.
TPTCC just can't take the same revs as PTA.

This was before "First" put the kabosh on everything.

PTA physics were created & released by Papyrus. They were unlocked with the 1.2.0.1 patch from Papyrus.
[fortine_oo Note: I think it was the 1.1.0.1 patch.]

The "pta" physics was released *thru* Project Wildfire (some ex-papyrus employees and testers) but was created by Papyrus themsevles just never released by papyrus. It is a "generic road racing" physics, not modleing any particular car-type. PWF created thier own "Trans-Am" mod to use with the pta physics. The USPits (Jan and company) were busy creating a Trans-Am / Touring Car mod well before the pta physics was released, but Jan and company decided to release that mod, we know it as the TPTCC mod, to use the pta physics. the TPTCC mod is said to be more of a "Touring Car" mod then a "Trans-Am"
