To be honest, I have been disappointed with the new layout for NASCAR's site ever since they changed it. While the old site had it's issues, it was nowhere near as frustrating and bothersome to use as the new site format has been.

We read every e-mail we receive from our fans and respond to as many as possible. Thanks again, and we hope you enjoy the rest of the season."

This email is an auto response message.

Is it just me or does that email kind of contradict itself?

I can't possibly be the only one that hates the new website. I missed the Nationwide race yesterday because I couldn't find the starting time, and had to watch a Spanish re-run to get to the interviews, which did not seem to be up on the website. It seems like all the important information is so generalized, and makes it impossible for me to find information on what I actually care about, rather than a gigantic header picture blabbing about Danica week in and week out.

What do you guys think?

It's terrible. It was fine before. My gosh, it's so god damn difficult to navigate. All this extra stuff on it that we don't need to see. I cant even find driver standings, and since I have school, I like to go to nascar.com to look at practice speeds and stuff. Cant do it. So I have to go to jayski instead.

It's almost funny how they dragged the site down so quickly to make it "easier" to navigate.

I'd guess there's an unpaid intern or three backed up by an IT department that also takes calls on Brian France's computer who is primarily responsible for the construction of the site and its content. It certainly explains how big that Twitter box is.

But, as a lark, put on some hip hop music really loud and mouseover those featured drivers under the standings. Dale Jr, Jimmie Johnson, and Brad K suddenly are head bobbing in the club. It's awesome.

What's also awesome is this graphic the "new" Nascar.com has.

Yep, that pretty much sums the track up. Great analytical work there guys. ;)

Someone photoshopped it but it would have been funny if they actually had that up. XD

yeah. I wish they'd drop Auto Club Speedway from their schedule and bring in a different track. It really has boring racing. North Wilkesboro would be an awesome replacement. Or another short track.

If North Wilkesboro were in the Los Angeles market, that'd be a good idea. Unfortunately it's not, and ACS is.

ACS would have dropped off the Cup schedule about when it dropped off the Truck schedule if there weren't Nascar executives who'd faint at the prospect of dropping the #2 media market in the USA from the schedule. The worst part about that is ACS knows it, and runs abhorrent pile of festering misery and pain disguised as a race track that no one wants to go to. Those in charge run ACS like the Miami Marlins or Houston Astros are run - as cheaply and pitifully as possible to the point where they make money, but it's an embarrassment on the sport.

When California Speedway opened, every seat in that grandstand was full. I remember because I was there. Framed on my wall are ticket stubs from the first ever Pole Day and "The Inaugural Event" on June 22, 1997. We even sold out the friggin CART (Indycar) race in October just to be able to buy decent seats to the Cup race because fans here in SoCal were that excited. I've never seen a bigger crowd of people who didn't know what in the world they've gone to. Today's IndyCar crowd is about the same number of people then who actually knew who were in the race. When Rockingham went down, California Speedway gained a 2nd date on the schedule - something tracks like Texas and New Hampshire fought for years in litigation to get - and it was a Chase race to boot. Today, the absolute idiocy of those in charge at ACS have squandered both the sold out crowds AND the Chase race date. It's amazing to look back at the last 10 years and realize not only did that actually happen, but nothing's being done about it and no one was EVER held accountable for it. Now ISC is more concerned with Daytona's frontstretch than anything else, and ACS is only getting worse and worse and worse in an area of Southern California that honestly ain't that great. It's way out in the boonies. It's hot. The air quality rivals Beijing, China. It's more than an hour away from LA before traffic time is factored in. There's really no other reason to go to Fontana unless you either live or work there. The track has to be a draw, but right now it's a repellant.

When you see this weekend's attendance, remember what I've just said.

I actually thought the racing at Fontana was good last year. And I remember a lot of other people saying the same thing at the time.

Its kind of like the Pocono deal. They developed a reputation of having less than stellar racing, but then when the racing is actually decent (which was the case at tracks last year), everyone forgets about it because of that reputation.

Yeah, except that Pocono's boring in a...unique way.

I've been to California Speedway once (I think you've heard this before). Safe to say that unless there's an IndyCar race there, I won't be going back there. Terrible weather (never heading to Fontana in 100+ degree weather ever again), questionable seating, and a track that hasn't even gotten with the modern times.

If they want to keep in in or near LA, why not try and get a date at Willow Springs or Irwindale? I would think that either of them would be better than ACS. We need more short tracks and road courses....

Of all the tracks they've added banking to that the cup series visits, I don't really understand why California Speedway wasn't one of them. Even if it was fast enough to mandate a restrictor plate due to such a condition, it would still at least not be an inferior Michigan Speedway all the time. Heck, they'd probably get more attendance from simply reversing the direction that the drivers race in, though that would never happen.

If they bank 25 degrees and put plates on I would like it then. Or we can blow it up and build a short track somewhere.

I like how this was about the new nascar.com page and how it sucks, and NOW its all about how to change Auto Club Speedway c.c XD

In Irwindale's case, the track seating would have to be expanded similar to Bristol or Martinsville, with supporting facilities and parking as required by law, and there's nowhere close to enough space for that. Track is surrounded on all sides by roads, granite mines, and the San Gabriel River.

Then there's the whole Chapter 7 bankruptcy aka "It's dead, Jim." problem...

Track reconfiguration was "discussed" but of course the idiots who've run the track into the ground didn't want to spend the money on it.

They were more concerned with alienating and over-charging their customer base, if they did buy a ticket condemning them to an experience similar to that of an ant under a magnifying glass, building lights for night racing that no one in Eastern time can watch, and losing a Chase race.

I think what bothers me most about the website design, aside from everything not loading and stuff being hard to find, is that they have to bold every second line.

Hamlin suffers
back injury

^What I see on the website right now, and I imagine a sudden change of tone in the sentence, which doesn't make any sense for what it's trying to report. It's silly.
