its so frustrating there are great developers here that would do console gamers like me wonder i mean i picked up nascar 09 today to find the booth was closed. Ultimately we need dedication i think that us console gamers have been begging for so long its bound to please us somewhat

Yep. I'll just stick with my NR2003. The kind mod makers and painters that still thankfully slave away over this true simulator every year still make it the best on the market!

Yep, I think NR2K3 is the best thing that will be available for the near future. I just thank SRD and others that have improved this game over the years.

This may be a dumb question but I was out of the sim racing world for the last 7 years. I wasn't paying attention when iracing came along. Are they just web based for online racing or can/will iracing release it's game as a sim ever?

Its just online, i dont think they would release it as as standalone game to playoffline...theyd lose too much money

Amen!!:notworthy:
But i fear that someday we might need a replacement for NR2003...:frown:

I think NR2003 will live on like GPL does, there are to many dedicated people that will always keep making this "sim" live on in some form.Others might follow as expected but this is and always will be to me hands down the one I will always like the best.

I think that the only platform that could possibly touch on all aspects of NASCAR racing games is for the PC. There's just too much to program for console simulations, if there ever truly was such a thing. But that'll never happen in this day and age. Like it was said before, someone will just start ripping off models or physics models and making standalone mods

iRacing already has.

Not in terms of being a NASCAR video game, with real drivers in real paint schemes. iRacing is not the game for NASCAR fans alone. NR2003 is.

Yeah, I like the customization of NR2003 and how you can actually play offline at your leisure. Plus, I don't have to pay for a subscription to play NR2003. I can just turn my computer on and there it is. Also, I've seen some of the damage modeling for iRacing and they still have a ways to go on it, unless they've updated it recently.

Isn't there a series in IRacing that is officially sanctioned by NASCAR? If thats the case then there are real NASCAR drivers and the schemes are rear schemes in it, lol.

And quite honestly, even GT5's "NASCAR Mode" or whatever it's called will suck because there won't be a full field. It will be like Gran Turismo, but with stock cars and that's all. So even GT5 isn't coming close at all.

Thats the point I'm trying to get to. It will be the closest thing we get right now and in the foreseeable future. I never said it was going to be better then anything else.

I just think the days of an open end Nascar game from the start are long over. Anything released to the PC will probably not be modifiable anyway since with the PC Piracy campaign that was started a number of years ago. It will be like trying to break into Fort Knox just to do that. Thus I wouldn't expect anything close to what we can do in NR2003. But even then the likely hood of Nascar PC game would be unlikely either.

Again I don't wish for this to be true but I just don't see it in the future...

The NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide, and Camping World Truck series are not in iRacing, and from I know, they don't race Sprint Cup, Nationwide, and Truck schemes when they do race.

There's one NASCAR driver that races in it (one guess as to who that is). The rest consists of people I've never heard about, a cool Indian guy, and some a-hole who thinks he's better than everyone in the world.

Yes, but the people that is keeping this game alive is becoming scarce. I don't think people want to do this forever, and if new blood doesn't come, then it will be over...
But don't get me wrong here; i think this day is nowhere near us! :)
But is a possibility...

He meant that because it's a NASCAR series, they are "real" NASCAR drivers and paint schemes.

And it's far from, actually. All they have is the Chevy Impala and the numbering system is based on ranking, not of your free will.

You're missing the implication though. The series is a NASCAR series. Therefore the series is technically full of NASCAR drivers and NASCAR paint schemes.

Most fans would rather race as NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide, or Truck drivers who top the NASCAR.com and Jayski headlines instead of people they barely know and probably don't care much about.
