A twitter rumor started by the orange cone? We can do better than that

It's Jegs. They'll be on the car some & also be on Regan Smith's Nationwide car some in 2014......they're not new to NASCAR as a sponsor but will apparently be new as a primary sponsor
The orange cone said there would be more news, & this would be a first for Jegs being a major sponsor in NASCAR.
And...again...see my earlier post...they have been before.

Nothing against him, but "the orange cone" is not a news breaker. He stays glued to Twitter, and as soon as the very first tweet on a new story hits the internet, he immediately regurgitates it before it makes the rounds. Other than that, he just takes stabs at other scenarios using the best logic and info available.
Furthermore, Dave Moody was the first to break the Harvick deal, Lee Spencer was the first to break the Busch deal, and Larry Mac was the first to make any mention of Newman/JTG-RCR alliance. "The orange cone" didnt break anything. He may have taken a lucky shot in the dark at some point with one of these stories, but he's not some highly-connected insider. He's someone who had a good idea for one of the first NASCAR parody accounts, and it caught on and spread like wildfire. Now he's got 30k some-odd followers with a bunch of people wanting to talk to him and ask him questions, so he's having some fun with it. Nothing more nothing less.
As far as the Earnhardt Jr. situation, if you actually take a little time on his feed and read between the lines, you'll see the Jegs deal is basically cockamamie. It more-or-less started with him and a couple others ("nascarcasm" being one of them) talking about Cody Coughlin moving up, to which someone suggested JRM should put him in a car because it would come with the family's guaranteed sponsorship. He then tweeted a picture to Kelley Earnhardt of an old Jegs sponsored car and said something to the effect of "you guys should run a car like this". It started building steam from there with others inquiring, to which he tweeted "look at the frenzy I've started". Then the next morning he tweets "I hope I didnt say anything too crazy yesterday while I was all hopped up on vicodin!", basically throwing down a security blanket.
Thats his game in a nutshell. And the more people buy into it, the more he plays it (especially lately). I've watched it for quite some time. Read through some of his feed with people asking silly season questions, and all his answers are either previously reported info, or him taking the most logical stab at it. And of course, every so often he'll throw out the quintessential "Been hearing a couple real interesting rumors today, but cant say anything yet". Nobody who's connected says anything like that. They dont need to. In this era of internet/social media, nobody is going to sit on a juicy rumor, as everyone wants to be the first to break it. Its Twitter garble at its finest.
Again, not hating on him or anything like that. Just saying it for what it is. Ask anyone who's in the know, and they'll tell you the same things. I've asked a couple myself. Some even know exactly who he is (as in his name, what he does, and that he's certainly not "inside" in any way). He had a great idea as far as in the Twitter world, and he's having fun with it. Thats ultimately what it comes down to.
Some people who know him claim he is a PR for a driver. I have no idea. But I think he's just what you explained, RP. I'd think if he is a real "insider" he'd be more professional and put out his real name. And not hide behind an inanimate object.
and they both have basically said he's not anyone whos roaming the garage area.
