Hello Everyone,

I am new to this type of stuff online. I was attracted to it for the design aspects with cars & trailers.

I would like to ask a few questions...hope to get an answer from you guys. :notworthy:

Can the files that you guys create be converted to wireframe or .eps?

Can the files be saved for high resolution printing?

How long does it take to design a killer layout?

What software do you use to design & then view in 3D?

I was laid off with about 200 other people at the company I was working for...I guess so was half of America. It was hard to find a job that paid anywhere near what I was making, so I went back into business for myself. I was the production manager at a sign shop. So, I have a lot of experience in the sign industry and wraps. I have designed and installed some wraps on 52' trailers & some LMSCs. But the company I am working for will not allow me to use any of the content that I did while working for them. So now I am in business with no samples...lol.

I am asking because I would like to find some designers that would be willing to create layouts for wraps. While I am just a little fish in the ocean right now, I hope to build up enough clients over the next couple of seasons to hire 3-4 designers full-time. However I can pay for full scale wrap designs with each contract from my clients as of now.

I really am impressed with the work that you have created here.

Even if nobody is willing to work with a noob on converting designs over to real race cars, I really think you guys are great here.:notworthy:

Thanks,
Noob 101

Most templates for the game we use come with a built in wireframe. If eps is an image format, then yes it can be saved as it.

If you build it in high resolution, it can be printed in high resolution.

To make the cars you see, the painters can take 2-48 hours on a single paint scheme depending on the complexity. An average would be around 6 hours for a decent paint.

Many of the sim community use 3ds Max for the display, however Blender, Maya, and many other 3d programs have come forward. Photoshop CS4 even has a rendering function built in.

If you're looking to do wraps for a business the first thing you'll want to do is learn to model in a 3d program. This will allow you to make different models for each of the vehicles you'll be wrapping. Everyone has to start somewhere so modeling (or having a 3d modeler on staff) would be a good place to start (in my opinion).

Welcome into the community.

Best I can recall, an .eps file is a post script type of file for graphics. Mostly used with Adobe Illustrator, these files are vector graphics.

Right now I just use CS4 to create the layout. It works fine for the printing side of it. But it would be nice to show them better angles of the finished wrap within the proofs. The prints need to be paneled for each side...driver, passenger, & top.

It takes about 8-16 hours to create a layout ready for print. I was just wondering how much more it takes for 3d. Thanks for the input...

I am just scratching the surface of 3d programs. I just need to learn enough until I can hire a full time designer.

I need to find a scaled version of each of the race car types for 3d. It is very exciting to see new opportunities with this type of software.

Do you know of any designers that might be willing to help me with some samples? I just need a couple different angles for mock-ups.

I am putting a lot of time into this right now. It is a slow process with learning 3d, even if only to scratch the surface. I am used to 2d line art for layouts.

All...in...all.... You guys rock and have enough talent to design for any level of racing or fleet wraps.

Thanks For Your Time,

Yeap...

I only use the eps for the proof layouts. I use tiff files for the hi res prints. Prints range anywhere from 360 - 1440 dpi.

The best part about the 3d is getting any angle you want....:D:D:D:D:D

Closing the deal is about the company, design & proof layout options.

I just wish I knew 5% of what you guys do...lol.

Man for most of us, I'm sure it was a lot of trial and error with a little google thrown in. :)

I build (and I think most of the other guys do to) my cars and trailers in photoshop. Of course that means that they are not vectored so they are hard to scale up to make them look right. Are you using Corel or Illustator to make your eps?

I only use the illustrator eps version for the proofs. I use photoshop for the actual print files.

The scale is the hard part. It takes a long time to measure and measure and measure again..lol.

I would love to have some samples of cool fictional designs with no bkg with different angles. Then they would not need to be an eps. I would not be changing anything on them.

I wanted to post in the request forums for a LMSC with my company logos on it. But did not think that would be right. You guys put a lot of time into them for playing online. I do not even have the game. So, the only way I will get some cool samples is if someone really feels like helping out a good guy.

If I did some Photoshop templates could one of you render with some angles for me? I really do hate to ask...really. I wish I had some funds right now to offer up. But I do not...I have to wait until I get a wrap job. It's a little harder to sell them without some cool design samples. But I will getter done...lol.

The only wrap job I have on the books right now is working with AMP on US Cellular Durango Wraps. But I am going to tracks and meeting drivers every week. They love the look of my company, but always ask about the samples. The only samples I can provide is 2d side views. It would blow them away with 3d....:notworthy:

I google a lot as of right now. Looking for help or samples that people do not mind me using.

I just thought I would try to talk to some of you guys about some designs. I really appreciate all the responses from you guys.

You guys rock!!!:notworthy:

I have located some templates for LMSC rides using Photoshop for editing.

What is the next step...

3D software: What do you suggest?

3D model: Where do I find a 3D model to use with the Photoshop LMSC psd?

Thanks... ;)

K... you guys have some pretty cool tools for building these cars. It's amazing what the community as a whole comes up with...

I found a car viewer to view the psd files.

1 down 1000000000 to go... ;)

How many car viewers are out there? (Modified, Dirt, Sprinters, etc..)

Is there a car viewer for trailers or 2009 rides?

Thanks...:notworthy:
