For years I have been using a Dell with horrible onboard video, thinking that there was no way for an upgrade because I didn't have a slot. My dad is a member of a computer club, and they tried to setup a Matrox card in an ATI slot, but it didn't work, and it ended up screwing my computer up too. Well, they decided to purchase an ATI Radeon 7000 model card to see if it works, and if actually does! I raced a race at Daytona and was amazed. Before, I could maybe get 15 FPS with everything turned off, but I can now get 25-30 FPS with everything cranked up! And the best part is Tom, the head guy of the club, didn't even ask a dime for it.

I now know how it feels, and it feels GOOOOOOD :D

I know how you feel buddy....I was in sort of the same situtation that you were in. I was getting 75-80fps with previous mods until my motherboard died. My friend who is a hardware administrator gave me a motherboard to replace it free of charge but I could only get 12-15fps after we installed it. He then replaced it with a better motherboard, a Pentium 4 Chipset, & a gig of ddram (that brought me up to 1.5gig). He did not ask for anything in return & now I am getting 85-90fps with the SS.net COT mod. Good friends are hard to come by, glad I found one :)

lol, playing with the low graphics is so horrible, yet alot of people still do it, i played in the 15-20 fps range/low graphics for years, and just recently built a new pc, awsome when you can actually draw enough cars infront of you to see where the crash is happening lol. good luck man, have fun on the track with the new graphics :D
