I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about the file. Google search reveals next to nothing about them. SRD's search revealed nothing at all.

Files in the sound.dat that use .ces
engvol.ces(246 bytes), tire_asphalt.ces(484 bytes), tire_grass.ces(355 bytes), tire_gravel.ces(347 bytes), tire_rumble.ces(383 bytes), winston.ces(2.35 KB), winston_nf.ces(641 bytes).

As a sound developer, I have a interest in what potential these hold; or if they are even used by NR2003 in the first place.

The only relevant topic on Google was over at ThePits in Aug 27, 2011. Which didn't hold much of any information other than the speculation of it may be encrypted. I unfortunately do not posses the skills to decipher the file and content (if it does hold any content).

In the attachment are the Files in question (1.8 KB) Total size. - Hope someone out there in the community can tackle this!

Seems to be just a way for Nr to decide what files are associated to what action. For example tire_asphalt.ces has associations with asphalt, scrub, and skid.wav. There are hex values that you could trial and error with in front of each audio file, but the success you may have is unknown.

My guess is that it tells the exe when to start changing from sound to sound. I.e at 3000rpm begin to fade from X.wav to y.wav until reaching 5000 rpm. If you can figure it out, that would be great, but as far as anybody currently knows the values are set in stone and can't really be tinkered with
