I just went through about two weeks of hair pulling with win 7 and n2k3, everything from win 7x64 compatibility with drivers and hardware and then finally installing the game and averaging 35fps frame rates with a 3.2 processor, 3k ram and 2 sli EVGA 9800gtx vid cards, Having the luxury of two identical rigs, i installed win xp in the other rig and viola im getting nothing below 225 fps. with everything up to the max, that;s before graphics tweaking. after I configured all the tweaks i'm getting now 275fps which i'm stunned to look at. Anyway I would like to thank all
the contributors to this board for all the help you guys give, it fun to be a part of this forum and the n2k3 gaming community, Thanks

How in the world did you get 190 additional frames-per-second using the exact same hardware?

With a frame rate that high I find it hard to believe it would be playable. I've seen 160fps and it almost looked like the playback was sped up a tiny bit. But I do know that switching to XP can increase frame rate. I've done it before and gained at least 25 frames (I went from 7 to XP on the same exact machine)

I didn't think the game could process that kind of fps?:-OI thought it maxed out at 147 fps.:-/

Everything above 45 or 50 fps looks the same to me, really. But, then again, I've never seen 275 fps....

I'm running the game in windows 7 64 bit just fine (sort of). Had it crashing to desktop from time to time. Finally learned from a friend that if you run it in a window, it runs fine. You just have to be sure to have a controller plugged in (doesn't matter what kind).

Here's how:

Running the game in a Window - Running the game in a window let's you jump back and forth to your desktop without getting out of the of game.

1. First, you have to run the game at the same resolution as your desk top.

2. Run the 3D config and check the "Run in a window" box.

3. Go into your game folder using Windows Explorer and find the app.ini file.

4. Open the file and look for the 2 lines like this:

windowTopLeftX=0
windowTopLeftY=0

5. Change the "windowTopLeftX=0" to windowTopLeftX=-3

6. Change the "windowTopLeftY=0" to windowTopLeftY=-23

7. Start the game, you only want to see a small line at the top of the screen. You don't want to be able to see the boxes to minimize the screen, but you should still be able to find them.

8. To raise the window higher, raise the "windowTopLeftY=" number.

Been running it this way for weeks and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Still have great framerates.
