Try rolling back the drivers for your video card? could be related there if it just happened out of the blue.

Does it look fine for a moment, and then the screen goes crazy? (Polygons everywhere, overlay props [tachometer, etc.] disappearing, and frames just insanely low?) Then NR2k3 probably had some sort of overflow, if you're using NRTweaker with a good computer, sometimes it will screw up the settings to a point NR2k3 doesn't read it properly. Resetting the config file to run again should remedy the situation.

If it's like that right out of installation though, I don't know.

Only problem I have is that importing paint schemes onto SS.Net COT and saving driver takes like 20+ seconds. Used to be a simple click and I could move on with my life. :(

That has to do with the size of the files, NR2k3 was originally designed to work with files a quarter of or even 1/16th the area the newer templates have. If that's the only issue you're having, then it really isn't a problem. You could always save a blank car file, and use WinMip2 to load the paint schemes that way if you frequently import new schemes.

@Tiger: Try going to options in NR2k3 and lower EVERYTHING [in the graphics section] to the minimum, does everything work fine then? If so, try adding the features to maximum one-at-a-time (while going into a quick race to test it) to see which feature is giving you the issue.

Ya know, I was having this problem awhile back and no matter what I did, it still did the exact same thing your talking about, just oneday it started messing up like that. I was on Vista at the time. I tried different graphics options along with countless other things that were suggested along with some that weren't and nothing worked. I went to XP on the same computer and haven't had an ounce of trouble since. I'm sure there's something you can do though. Alot of people run NR2003 on Vista & Windows 7.

Yes I realize this is no help to your situation. :emoticon-sign: lol

Could be many things at this point, could be a background program fluxuating try running enditall or a similar program then start the game. Also could be a power setting since it's vista you'r talking about, perhaps you have an auto setting for power saving options and its wrestling with the setting. one second it could be running at full power then the next slow itself down to basic and back and forth? try changing you're power options to high performance, oh yeah also if you're using an AMD system try disabling the "cool'n'quiet" feature. That's all that comes to mind.
