It should run. It is at least opening, or can you not get the game run at all?

It might be the Data Execution Prevention. I don't know how to disable it though.

I said once.I said it twice. It'll never run like XP.Unless you have a great rig.W7 is a freakin hog!It runs 7 times harder then XP.Thats why I have a duel boot.I just run NR2003 in XP.I can run in W7 ,but I loose about 20% of fps.And I do have a custom made pc.It's good, but I know theres alot better.

Interesting. :) If you have a minute, could you please list your rig spec's. I live vicariously thru other people's hardware. :wheelchair: It's how I roll.

That is interesting. I run 2003 on an average gaming machine and get perfectly acceptable fps with Win 7 64 bit Pro.

I can run the Cup12 cars (known to be frame rate heavy) with 16x AA and everything on except animated objects, shadows on cars from objects and others pit crews and with all the cars in front of me fps drop to about 43 to 45 but most of the time is at 60 because I have VS on, though without VS it's usually 90+. With the BR2012 cars all in front of me it doesn't move below 60 fps with VS on.

My rig:

i5 2500K 3.3 Ghz
8Gb of 1600 Mhz RAM
GTX 460 1GB

It will not play the lastest games at high frame rates but it's great for 2003.

I like said before.I can run NR2003 on W7.I have the in game graphics just about maxed out and if have the VS off ,I can get 145fps.Then they'll drop off on the more graphic parts of the tracks,to about in the 35-45fps range and be a little jerky.I always have the VS turn on unless i'm checking some kind of adjustment. But the game still runs alot smoother in XP for me.My spec's.(Geforce GTX 260)(Intel Duo core 2.66)(4GB)(550Watts)(W7 Home Prem). It's a few years old.I'm just about ready for a upgrade.......:-/

Thanks for listing your spec's, afflactheduck, Tbolt, & gojimmie. The need for a certain level of gpu seems clear, but at what point more grunt from the gpu can make up for less than 3.GHz of grunt from the cpu is elusive. Still the domain of the Black Arts Voodoo Geeks. Hard to get enlightenment from them -- they just mock us for being under the spell of an old game.

We just won't invite them to the 10th birthday party. :p

Just mo, but I don't think there's a set up out there, that doesn't hit a wall at around 150 fps & drop to 40 on starts, and some congested areas. If there is, my wife will get new appliances, and I'll be haunting NCIX, and Newegg promo's. I do think a GTX 260, and GTX 460 are two cards that will def' take you to the software's limitations.

And to the OP
;
put me down as an, XP on a dedicated N'03 rig (no sense paying for W7), but I play fine on W7 Pro 64 bit. It was just a little glitchy, and frustrating at first. I used the (safer) non-command prompt mode to deal with dep.

However: With an AMD E-3oo APU @ 1.3GHz, I'm guessing you have 'small form factor notebook'. I would not be surprised if it will not open N'03 -- wouldn't be surprised if it did. I would be surprised if you could do more than practice, or qualify. Just not meant for an fps game. Sorry afflactheduck.. :( Keep your eye out for a 2 core (all you need) cpu at 3.GHz or so, and a graphics card that scores 1000 or so on the Passmark gpu chart in a desktop. They're out there for free/pickup or $100. I got one for $75 on Kijiji.

Not the Kijiji rig.

$75 Kijiji rig is on this thread.

I went from XP to 7 and did a fresh install of nr2003 on 7, and it worked just fine.

Good to see somebody who's interested in gear join the forum. From an admitted gear head; Welcome!

I've noticed your other posts, and wonder what you're running for a rig -- and we do love to look at the pictures of racing setups.

The OP, 'aflactheduck', has a 1.3GHz (small forum factor notebook ? {hasn't posted back yet}). If that's the case; I think he needs to ask, "Will I brick my notebook playing N'03?"

While I figure it will run, it's unlikely gaming-adequate cooling is in place. I think he would very likely reduce the lifespan of his notebook(?). Perhaps a sudden, and dramatic, reduction. 1.3GHz is more than the recommended minimum of 450MHz, but minimum spec's also require a 3D compatible graphics card, so notebooks imo aren't even considered at the time.

With the new generation of hybrid/fusion cpu's, credible members are reporting enjoyable game-play without a dedicated graphics card, but so far nobody is saying they get enjoyable game-play with a small form factor notebook. Wouldn't surprise me if somebody does soon...

...but I'll wait until they post video/or I get' hands on' for confirmation. :)

There's lots of free desktops, and free crt monitors, on Kijiji that would play N'03 appreciably better than a (suspected) sff notebook. No expert, but I could almost guarantee Mr. duck's notebook would last longer. (y)

First post here...Game runs beautiful for me. 1920x1080, all in game settings maxed using FXAA with 8xQ AA.
I'm just now getting back into it after being bummed over the demise of Nascar Racing 3 so many years ago...'Don't Harvick me man!' I'm running an i7 980x at 4.2ghz, SLI 580's with a GTX 470 for PhysX and 12 GB 2000mhz Corsair Dominator memory. Using a 40" Sony Bravia for a monitor. Win 7 64bit Ultimate. I know this is utterly and complete overkill for this title, but that isn't what I built it for. :)
