thats why we have nr2k3. NASCAR 2011 will be the equivalent to it only on consoles. so if you don't have the other you can be happy. lol, my take on all of this. ;)

N2k3 is still fun just outdated...It's time for something new to be brought to the PC...

ha. good luck you think after they have invested 18 months in the game or more and still will be working literally up to the 500 because of all the team changes, schemes, sponsors and so on....

that they are just going to magically hire a whole team to port the game. Not likely this round and if so not likely till about the end of next year based on success and sales figures.

Yep NR2003 is so outdated. Old mods. Old paint schemes. Old tracks.

I'm being sarcastic

Dave Thompson: The lack of retail space for PC currently means it’s tough to justify the costs of development for traditional distribution. Nevertheless, we have something up our sleeves that should satisfy the legions of dedicated PC racers – watch this space.

Dave Thompson is talking about Auto Club Revolution, far from NASCAR Racing...far from the ovals we watch these guys race on every weekend...If you are actually watching the racing every weekend...far from Nr2003...

But I guess if everybody wants to be running Nr2003 or Br2004 in 2014 on the PC, while rally racing fans will be running dirt 3 or formula 1 fans will be driving f1 2011, NASCAR fans will be wrecked by wreckers in iRacing running in there Chevrolets or running in the ARCA Series that wont be updated enough with 5 people on-line to run a race and everybody complaining about the AI, or what they were promised...
Myself, just looking towards the future hoping that somebody will bring NASCAR back to the PC market since NASCAR Sim Racing which was back in 2005...

I started with NASCAR 1 on the keyboard, I got a thrustmaster t2 when my parents got me a copy of nascar 2, I played the 1999 ed. until 4 came out, just because i couldnt get 3 to work...I played thunder 2003, 2004, and Sim Racing, Ive been playing 2003 ever since...2 years ago I had 3 installs for all of the mods and tracks...I just hope for something new...but hey if you don't that's okay...

outdated physics and graphic-wise sorry

While it's true about the graphics, we have YET to see a company that could make a better engine than NR2k3's. iRacing is directly based off the nr2k3 engine, but it's questionable if you can consider it better . . . . .

1. There will not be a PC version. It's most vulnerable since morons can create hacks, idiots try to win the race on the first turn, and there will be cracked versions. That being said, yeah, it is crap that it's not for the PC (tho, most console-to-PC ports suck).

2. Petitions rarely work, anyway.

Based on physics alone, iRacing is greatly improved over N2k3. Other areas we can argue over all day, but on Physics alone, they certainly didnt take steps backwards. rFactor's engine as a whole is better too IMO. Not a great sim for oval racing due to Ai, and certain setup options specific to oval racing, but as a whole it's engine is more complex and more realistic. Hopefully rF2 is better for oval racing, but seeing as ive yet to even see the word stockcar associated with it, I doubt it.

N2k3 is fantastic in most areas, and still the best all around NASCAR sim, but it has been surpassed in most departments by other games, just none have put all of those components together for NASCAR, so N2k3 is still King of Oval racing games.

that's the thing, nr2003 is the best NASCAR Racing game for the PC...I'm just one of the few people(according to the posts before me) who wants another NASCAR Sim racing expierience for the PC...which it seems nobody else cares about...If you look at my post where I quote, QUOTE Dave Thompson...you will see where I'm coming from...ie: enough people want a NASCAR game on the PC...MAYBE SOMEBODY will make it...

NOT knocking iRacing, I find it a blast by myself...but really when I get out there and have 10 year old kids wrecking me and telling me they're going to knife me over the voice-comm...turns me off...turns me terribly off...

Im assuming rookie legends? or Hosted? Yeah, its gotten kind of bad in that sense, but the higher up you get the less of that there is, those kids get shuffled out fairly quick, especially if you report 'em :p

Sorry for the thread derailment.

I personally would love a new NASCAR sim for PC, i still have hope that after the first year of this game we may get one, or even the 2011 game later in the year.

I understand why hardly nobody markets on the PC anymore. People want the quick and easy console route, and the hardware on the consoles is fairly impressive. However, a console will never have the versatility of the PC, partly due to the type of limitations a console ensures, but mostly because they want to keep consoles limited so they can sell you a new one ever 4-5 years or so. I think a good made-for-PC NASCAR franchise would be feasible, if they released the game, then sold updates and improvements every so often for a few years, then released a whole new game a few years down the road, like Papyrus did. NASCAR's rules, etc, change often enough that an update system is viable. Many of the top companies like Bethesda encourage modding by releasing development tools and sometimes even easy-to-use editors with their games. This is the main problem. Most software companies do not like to admit that modding communities exist and turn out high-caliber work that is comparable to their own. But if you'll notice, the companies that embrace PC modding are often the most successful. The problem with everyone wanting quick and easy is the main one, though. Nobody wants to maintain or keep up a good gaming PC. They'd rather buy a cheaply made, limited console that they don't have to bother with. Laziness is the quintessential modern disease.

Bottom line, these things run in cycles. The console craze of the 80's to mid-90's cut down on PC marketing, and at the end of the century, the PC came roaring back. It will happen again.

Still, this is why I hate current gaming. EVERYTHING seems to be all-online or heavily online-focused. You can come out with the most awesome game ever made, but real gamers with real money will not want to play because it forces them to play with spoiled juveniles. The NR2003 system is superior in that regard because it allows us to set up our own servers and self-police the kind of nonsense that goes on. I'll race online with a private, invitation-only server that has enforced regulations, but I'm not going to on a public server with a bunch of unpoliced little punks that think wrecking everybody is amusing.
